During your Philadelphia vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Downey's
Downey's has become one of South Street's favorite watering holes. Irish to the core, this home-town favorite offers a variety of local and regional dishes including steaks, lobsters, pasta and Irish specials. Downey's bar offers hot hors d'oeuvres, a special bar menu, Irish coffee Cappuccino and more. Outdoor dining in season. Entertainment upstairs on Wednesday and Saturday evenings and Sunday brunch.
Meiji-En Pier
This Penn's Landing locale features the finest in Japanese cuisine as well as one of the most breathtaking views of the waterfront in the city. An indoor waterfall and traditional Japanese decorations like kobuki masks, lanterns, and katana blades complement the elegant candlelit dining room. The Teppanyaki-style grill produces exquisite seafood and steak entrees. Sukiyaki, tempura, shabu-shabu, and sushi selections round out the menu. Enjoy the subtle jazz of the cocktail lounge on Friday and Saturday nights. Private parties and banquet bookings are available.
Chlöe
What makes Chlöe so interesting is that with only 30 seats, it's like eating in a family kitchen. The menu features pork chops and collard greens, chicken breast and banana bread pudding. What they've done is take basic American dishes and spice them up to bring out the flavors that made these foods so appealing in the first place. The pork chop is stuffed with corn and bacon and then served over collards braised in port. The chicken breast is given a good rubdown with curry, garlic and paprika. Get there early, reservations are not accepted.
