Lard and MSG are not used in the preparation of items. The combo menu, however, is extensive including interesting variations on the traditional Mexican themes of carnitas (chicken, azada, chile verde, chile colorado, adobada), burritos, tacos, tortas (Mexican sandwiches) and more.
Xochimilco
The name is pronounced so-chee-mill-co which is the floating gardens in Mexico City. This eatery serves tasty traditional Mexican dishes in a friendly family atmosphere. For a tasty break from enchiladas and fajitas, try the flaky fish tacos, zesty chili verde or shrimp ranchero. Burgers and fries are also offered for the less adventurous. The building and decor are nothing special, but the place has developed a loyal clientele of very satisfied diners.
Rick's Dessert Diner
This small restaurant is entirely devoted to dessert. The dining area is a classic 1950s style. The booths and counter stools are done in chrome and pink-and-black vinyl. The huge jukebox plays doo-wop, early rock classics and the occasional bubble gum pop tune. The desserts are memorable. Pies of all kinds are lined up in the display cases, along with towering layer cakes. A couple of slices of chocolate cake oozing with two kinds of chocolate or lemon meringue pie can be meals in themselves. Be sure to bring cash; credit cards are not accepted.
