During your Phoenix vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Different Pointe of View
Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Valley while dining at this resort restaurant. Located in Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs, the menu changes regularly to highlight fresh herbs and produce from the chef's garden. At the time of this writing, the herb-crusted Lamb Rack with stone-ground mustard sauce and Muscovy Duck Breast with a blackberry and currant sauce were featured. The Ancho Chile Chocolate Brownie sounds strange, but tastes terrific! Entrées hover in the $30 range. A Wine Spectator award-winning list is provided. Live music on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Steve's Greenhouse Grill
Settled in the midst of downtown Phoenix, this restaurant offers a wide variety of tasty fare, from hearty breakfasts to fresh, broiled salmon or ahi tuna. For something different, try the Ostrich burger, low in fat and cholesterol, high in protein, with 50 percent less fat that chicken. Wash it down with some on tap beer from local breweries. Smoking is allowed on the patio only, but that is where musician Chris Basgall sets up each Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night for a unique mix of contemporary/rock/jazz music.
Portofino Ristorante Italiano
Enjoy a beautiful Italian courtyard ambience at this delightful local eatery, which features a dining room fountain and linen-covered tables. Lunch and dinner selections include veal, chicken, pasta and fish. Try the sumptuous breaded Veal Parmigiana for $7.50, garnished with tasty tomatoes, parsley, garlic and oregano, or the Fettucini Alfredo, for $6.50. Most lunch selections run $6-7.75, and dinner will set you back $6-11.50. Don't forget a tempting dessert such as the luscious Cream Caramel, Cannoli Siciliana or cheesecake ($3.25-3.75).
