During your Philadelphia vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Toto
Right off the Avenue of the Arts rests Toto, a great after-theater place to graze on a hearty Italian menu spotlighting roasts and stews or informally at its Cichetti (pronounced CHI-KEH-TEE) grill. This grill allows diners to indulge in an appetizer or light dinner. Select from a delightfully well-rounded, reasonably priced wine list from the finest vineyards of California, Italy and France. Don't forget to enjoy a cappucino and decadent dessert after your splendid meal.
Kingdom of Vegetarians
For the health-conscious traveler, this is one of the many excellent vegetarian/kosher Chinese restaurants in the city. You can dine on anything from Dragon Dumplings ($3.95) to mock seafood (such as Kung Po Shrimp at $8.95), assured that not one furry animal or cuddly fish was harmed in the process. Kingdom's main source of ambiance is transmitted via generic Asian interpretations of Western classics cooing softly from the ceiling speakers.
Susanna Foo's
Renowned chef and proprietor Susanna Foo has seen her fusion brand of Chinese and French cooking elevate her establishment into the elite of Philadelphia restaurants. In fact, Foo won an award in 1997 for the Mid-Atlantic Region's best chef. The entrees that result are unique. Asian sauces applied to traditionally French entrées like pheasant typify many of the menu items. Scroll paintings and silk lanterns are offset by the contemporary feel of track lighting and minimalist decor.
