During your Dallas vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Cantina Laredo
A phrase like upscale Tex-Mex may seem like an oxymoron, but one of Dallas' more successful restauranteurs, Gene Street, produced another interesting dining concept in this upscale Tex-Mex restaurant. The decor is art deco/Southwestern with a dash of Spanish mission. Specialties include the Botanas Platter (pork-filled tacos al pastor and grilled shrimp), and Chicken Tampico, (grilled breast with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, spinach, sour cream sauce and melted jack cheese). The fully-stocked bar offers beer, mixed drinks and wine, and caters to trendy singles as well as affluent retirees.
Best Thai
If you're in the Addison area, check out Best Thai. The restaurant serves a full range of Thai food and a few Chinese items on the lunch buffet. The bar and front door are thatched like huts and the walls are hung with bamboo, strings of lights and pith helmuts. Try the kapow—a spicy mixture of pork, Thai basil leaves, red chili flakes and fresh vegetables; or Kha Kai—a coconut milk and chicken soup with lemon grass and ginger. Entries include Pork Satay with peanut sauce and a Cucumber Dip with purple onion. Panang with Beef is also a favorite entree here.
Goldfinger Restaurant
This restaurant and club offers live musical entertainment along with good Greek food. What a wonderful way to celebrate or just enjoy the evening. Traditional Greek-influenced décor is combined with American furnishings. Specialty dishes include choices such as Tenderloin Souvlakia, Shrimp and Lamb Chops.
