During your St Louis vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:

Missouri Botanical Garden
Opened in 1859, this is the country's oldest and one of its best botanical gardens: a 79-acre delight featuring the nation's largest Japanese strolling garden, a Chinese garden, a geodesic-domed rainforest greenhouse, an 1882 brick conservatory housing camellias, a scented garden for the visually impaired, a sculpture garden with works by Carl Milles, a hedge maze, a home-gardening resource center, and themed gardens ranging from a Victorian garden to an English woodland garden. A must-see for gardeners, who can easily spend 2 or 3 hours of bliss here.

St. Louis Art Museum
Housed in a Beaux Arts-style building constructed for the 1904 World's Fair, this great museum is a buffet of the arts, where visitors can sample as much as they like of the displays from around the globe and from virtually all time periods. It contains works ranging from ancient and medieval art to European old masters, French Impressionists, American art from 1800 to 1945, and contemporary art. Its pre-Columbian and German Expressionist collections are ranked among the best in the world (it owns more paintings by Max Beckmann than any museum in the world). Other galleries feature Islamic and ancient art; an Asian collection; an Egyptian collection (including three mummies); arms and armor; and art from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. There are also displays of Chinese, European, and American decorative arts. You should spend at least 2 hours here.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery
Anheuser-Busch, one of the world's largest beer brewers, was established at this site in the 1860s, and many architectural gems from that time period remain. Tours of the brewing process take in the 1885 Clydesdale stable, the historic 1892 Brew House, and the packaging plant, ending with free drinks. Allow 1 1/2 hours. Tours begin at 12th and Lynch streets (I-55 at Arsenal).

Make your reservations for discount hotel rooms in the St Louis area, including:

Drury Plaza Hotel
Here's a great location for both business and leisure travelers. More upscale than the other locally owned Drury Inns, this downtown hotel, situated just minutes from the Arch, opened in 2000 in three renovated buildings, including the 1919 Fur Exchange Building, and boasts Italian marble, massive support columns, and Waterford crystal chandeliers in its lobby. Rooms, some with Arch and river views, have microwaves, refrigerators, and free popcorn and soft drinks. Like all Drury properties, they offer free local calls, free evening beverages, and snacks (Mon-Thurs).

Omni Majestic Hotel
Built in 1914, this National Historic Landmark appeals to business travelers and celebrities alike with its old world charm, downtown location, complimentary downtown shuttle, excellent service, and fitness room. The comfortable rooms have more character than most and are equipped with triple-sheeted beds, refrigerators, free wi-fi connections, and bathrobes. The Get Fit rooms sport treadmills.

Embassy Suites
Located near the Arch and downtown, in the restored riverfront nightlife district (Laclede's Landing), this all-suite hotel features a sky-lit, eight-story atrium as its focal point and offers two-room suites equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, two TVs, and wi-fi access. Ask for a room facing the Arch or the Mississippi on a higher floor to get the best views. Guests enjoy such extras as cooked-to-order breakfasts, free evening cocktails, a game room, and the very good St. Louis Fish Market restaurant, making it a good choice for couples and families alike.
