During your Los Angeles vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Locanda Veneta
This tiny but cozy restaurant serves up excellent fare to those who call ahead for reservations. Dismiss the size of the place and focus instead on what the kitchen turns out: fresh pastas, gnocchi from heaven and a lobster ravioli that's as close to perfection as you're likely to get. The stone floors and packed tables can make the place rather loud but once the food arrives you won't want to talk anyway.
Flamingo's Mexican Grill & Bar
Flamingo's is a fun, exciting bar and restaurant in Laguna Hills. It might be located in a strip mall, but this restaurant has a lot of character and ambience. You'll think you're in Mexico when you settle into your booth or table and taste the chips and salsa. The servers are friendly and the decor is stylishly authentic but not tacky. Many people come just for the bar (but wonder how they could resist the delicious food), which serves Happy Hour from 3:30pm-7pm Monday through Friday. The food is about as authentic as you're going to get this side of the border. Delicious tacos, enchiladas, tamales, burritos, and more will leave you full and happy. The warm tortillas are the best and all the ingredients are fresh. Entrees range from $6-$13. There's a pretty good wine list and a huge selection of beer
La Serenata de Garibaldi
The exterior doesn't look like much but you can't judge a book by its cover. Pass through the front door and you find yourself in a lovely dining room complete with Mexican paintings, textiles and art. The friendly and attentive staff can recommend several wonderful dishes from the large, seafood-based menu. Among the better choices are Gorditas Stuffed with Shrimp, Fish Enchiladas and amazing Shrimp Quesadillas. Regulars regard it as the best Mexican cooking north of the border. An additional Westside location, called La Serenata Gourmet, is at 10924 West Pico Boulevard.
Beverly Crescent Hotel
"This modern European-style hideaway is a fabulous alternative to the large city hotels. It is situated in the golden triangle of Beverly Hills adjacent to Rodeo Drive. You can mingle with the rich and famous, yet only pay about USD90 a night in this 38-room bed and breakfast. You will not believe the nearby stores, including Tiffany & Co. Start the morning with your complimentary continental breakfasta little coffee and fresh fruit to fuel a big day of shopping and mingling."
Best Western Mid-Wilshire Plaza Hotel
Located just a short distance from downtown Los Angeles, this hotel is a good choice for both business and leisure travelers.
