During your San Diego vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Andre's Cuban Restaurant
If you are looking for Black Beans and Rice, Arroz Con Pollo or Plantains, you are in luck at this authentic Cuban eatery. For almost two decades, this informal cafe has been serving Cuban specialties for lunch and dinner, including a sensational Roast Pork Cuban Sandwich. Everything on the menu is not only incredibly delicious, but the prices are inexpensive also. Entrees range from $7-12. Beer and wine are available.
Lorna's Italian Kitchen
The casual, family-friendly atmosphere and inexpensive prices make this charming Italian eatery a local favorite. There is nothing "nouveau" about this place; you will find typical red-checked tablecloths in a cool, dim atmosphere. As for the cuisine, if it was not popular in Italy in decades past, it is not on the menu. What is on the menu is a rich, flavorful array of pastas, calzones and pizzas. House specialties include the Fra Diavolo, a spicy sauce over fusilli with your choice of calamari, chicken or scallops.
Vivace
This classy restaurant is located at the prestigious Four Seasons Resort Aviara. Enjoy superb regional cuisine complemented by spectacular ocean views overlooking the lovely Batiquitos Lagoon and the well-manicured golf course. Each entree is a standout, but two super delicious choices are the Pennetti With Lamb and the Ziti With Sun Dried Tomatoes. The Oven-Baked Halibut is also excellent. Entree prices range from $15-32. There is an extensive wine list as well.
Holiday Inn Express--Chula Vista
This hotel is located near top attractions in South County. Whether you are highly athletic or just enjoy watching others perform, you will want to drop by the nearby United States Olympic Training Center when open visiting days are scheduled. In addition, just five miles away, you can reach some of San Diego's loveliest beach areas. Racquetball and tennis courts and a golf course are equally nearby. There are no suites at this inn.
Holiday Inn Mission Bay--SeaWorld
Centrally located in the Midway-Rosecrans area, only moments away from SeaWorld and all attractions in Mission Bay, this hotel is also within easy walking distance to many restaurants and local shops. At the inn, guests will find several amenities, including a concierge and gift shop, to make their stay more enjoyable. The beautiful pool and patio areas, as well as the restful interior decor, allow relaxation for both business and vacation travelers.
Beach Cottages (The)
These cottages will remind many of the look that was so familiar to beach movies back in the 1960s and 70s. The interiors are simple yet clean. Many families and young adults like to come for an extended period of time, because some of the larger cottages can comfortably accommodate up to six people. The cottages are considered a bit nicer than the regular hotel rooms, so make your reservations well in advance to secure one. All of the cottages have a patio and chairs. There are also kitchens in all of the cottages (though there are none in the hotel rooms).
