During your Baltimore vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:

Holocaust Memorial and Sculpture
In the heart of downtown near the Inner Harbor, this open-air memorial starkly recalls the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis in Europe between 1933 and 1945.

USS Constellation
You can't miss the Constellation, docked for years at the Inner Harbor (predating Harborplace). A triple-masted sloop-of-war launched in 1854, the Constellation is the last Civil War-era vessel afloat. Tour her gun decks, visit the wardrooms, see a cannon fired, and learn about the life of a sailor. Demonstrations begin with the raising of the colors at 10:30am and continue on the hour. Special events include a Fourth of July picnic and a New Year's Eve reception, both ending with fireworks. Tickets are required. A free birthday party is usually held the Saturday closest to August 26. The Constellation marks its 150th birthday in 2004, and it may be moved to Annapolis for a celebration at the Naval Academy in September.

Baltimore Maritime Museum
This museum is comprised of three boats and a lighthouse that tell recent maritime history. The Coast Guard Cutter Taney survived the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The submarine USS Torsk sank the last two Japanese merchant ships of World War II and still holds the record for the most dives and resurfacings of any submarine. The Seven-Foot Knoll Lighthouse is worth a climb up the steps to see the Fresnel light and learn about the lighthouse that once welcomed immigrants here. The lightship Chesapeake spent 40 years anchored near the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Each provides an interesting glimpse into the lives of 20th century sailors.Insider tip: For a good value, buy a Seaport Pass and combine this ticket with a visit to the USS Constellation and a ticket to ride all day on the Seaport water taxi for $16 adults; $13.50 seniors; $9 ages 6 to 14; free for children under 5.

Make your reservations for discount hotel rooms in the Baltimore area, including:

Wyndham Baltimore
You could get lost in here, but the staff is aware of how big their hotel is and are quick to point a lost guest in the right direction. Just remember which tower you're staying in. The Wyndham is Maryland's largest hotel, with two towers housing 707 rooms. It's a popular place for conventions. Rooms are set up with the business traveler in mind, including secretarial services available in the business center. But tourists can count on comfortable rooms about 5 blocks to the Inner Harbor. The First Mariner Arena and Mechanic Theater are next door.

Inner Harbor Courtyard by Marriott
Overshadowed in size by its big sister, the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront, this Marriott won't be outdone for service or comfortable rooms, which are a good size with desks, comfortable beds, and well-equipped bathrooms. There are eight rooms with Jacuzzis and 10 corner suites. It's serious enough for business travelers but casual enough for families on vacation. Although it's really not in the middle of major attractions, it's on the water taxi routes and located near the newly developing promenade, so getting to the Inner Harbor, Fells Point, or even Fort McHenry is easy.

Holiday Inn Inner Harbor
You know what you get from a Holiday Inn, and for value and location, it's hard to beat this old-timer, the first major chain property in Baltimore. It's between the Baltimore Arena and the convention center, a block from Camden Yards and 3 blocks from Harborplace. It has an executive tower with 175 rooms geared to business travelers and has been updated and renovated regularly. Guest rooms are decorated in rich jewel tones with traditional furniture including a desk, brass fixtures, and wide windows offering views of the city skyline.
