During your Salt Lake City vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:

Utah Museum of Natural History
Located in the old university library building, this museum covers more than 200 million years. Some 200 exhibits -- including some intriguing dinosaur exhibits -- take you on a journey through time, describing the geologic and natural history of Utah right up to the present. Allow 1 hour.

International Peace Gardens
Begun in 1939 by the Salt Lake Council of Women, the Peace Gardens have expanded over the years and now belong to the city. Take a stroll along the Jordan River, through the many gardens and past statuary and displays representing different countries; benches are scattered about for moments of rest and contemplation. Allow about 1 hour.

Pioneer Memorial Museum
Operated by the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, this museum, housed in a Grecian-style building, contains an immense collection of pioneer portraits and memorabilia. The main floor contains paintings, photos, and the personal effects of church leaders Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball. The collection also includes a manuscript room, household displays, and exhibits on spinning, weaving, railroading, mining, and guns. The restored 1902 steam fire engine is our favorite exhibit. All four stories are packed with relics of Utah's history. You can walk through on your own or with the aid of a guide sheet; tours are also available. A 12-minute film is shown throughout the day. Allow 1 hour.

Little America Hotel
Little America is among Salt Lake City's finest hotels, offering a wide variety of rooms, all individually decorated. Choices range from standard courtside units to extra-large deluxe tower suites in the 17-story high-rise. All are gracefully yet comfortably appointed in French provincial style, and come complete with 31-inch color TVs and pay-per-view movies. The locally popular coffee shop opens at 5am; there's also a steakhouse and lounge. The hotel offers valet parking, and has a second-floor sun deck with an indoor/outdoor pool plus a separate, beautifully landscaped outdoor pool. There are banquet and conference facilities here.

The Grand America Hotel
This premier downtown hotel, opened in March of 2001, is the place to stay for those who want the utmost in service and accommodations, and are willing to pay for it. Occupying an entire city block in downtown Salt Lake City, the Grand America is reminiscent of majestic European hotels, with more than 450,000 square feet of hand-tooled marble and granite. The exquisitely designed rooms include deluxe executive suites boasting 880 square feet of comfort and elegance, and beautifully appointed deluxe rooms with patios and balconies overlooking pool and garden areas. The concierge floor has a lounge. All rooms are equipped with large screen TVs, three telephones, dataports, and the finest quality furnishings.

The Armstrong Mansion Bed & Breakfast
This stately red-brick mansion exudes an atmosphere of splendor and luxury. The B&B is an opulent Queen Anne-style Victorian home decorated with antiques and reproductions. It features such architectural delights as stained-glass windows and an intricately carved oak staircase. The four-story mansion, built in 1893 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was renovated in 1994 and now has an elevator. The stencils on the walls are reproductions of the mansion's original decorative patterns, discovered during renovation. A variety of rooms are available; most have queen-size beds though a few have kings. Most units have whirlpool tubs. The full all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet -- served between 7:30 and 10am -- consists of a hot dish, breads, and a variety of fruits.
