The Weisman Art Museum on the University of Minnesota campus sits on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. The museum's largest and most diverse gallery is its collection of architecture, design, and decorative arts, including a portion of a Prairie School house. Minnesota Museum of American Art
The Twin Cities' only museum dedicated solely to American art, the MMAA has been around for over 30 years, but its new Riverfront Gallery, which opened in 2004, makes the museum feel new. Works range from the mid-19th century to the present with a special emphasis on Minnesota and regional artists. Frequent special exhibitions are popular and also focus on American and regional themes. Allow 1 hour.
