Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA)
The MIA's permanent collection of over 100,000 objects of fine and decorative art represents more than 5,000 years of history, including a 2,000-year-old mummy, European masters (Rembrandt, Titian, and Monet, among others), and a comprehensive photography exhibit. The museum's largest and most diverse gallery is its collection of architecture, design, and decorative arts, including a portion of a Prairie School house. Located downtown, overlooking the Mississippi River, the Radisson is topped by the Twin Cities' only revolving restaurant. Nicollet Island Inn
Just across from the Mississippi River, this lovely inn was once an 1893 window shade and blind company; it was converted into an inn in the 1970s. The Nicollet Island Inn Restaurant is highly recommended (as are reservations), featuring contemporary American cuisine and a selection of over 350 wines; it also serves an excellent Sunday brunch ($26 adult, $13 children ages 6-12, free for children 5 and under).
