During your Miami vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:

Bay Escape
This 1-hour air-conditioned cruise will take you past Millionaires' Row and the Venetian Islands for just $15. There's also a food stand and cash bar. The tours are bilingual.

Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)
MOCA boasts an impressive collection of internationally acclaimed art with a local flavor. It is also known for its forward thinking and ability to discover and highlight new artists. A high-tech screening facility allows for film presentations to complement the exhibitions. You can see works by Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Larry Rivers, Duane Michaels, and Claes Oldenberg, plus there are special exhibitions by such artists as Yoko Ono, Sigmar Polke, John Baldessari, and Goya. Guided tours are offered in English, Spanish, French, Creole, Portuguese, German, and Italian.

Jewish Museum of Florida
Chronicling over 230 years of Jewish heritage and experiences in Florida, the Jewish Museum presents a fascinating look at religion and culture through films, lectures, and exhibits such as "Mosaic: Jewish Life in Florida," which features over 500 photos and artifacts documenting the Jewish experience in Florida since 1763. The museum also delves into the Jewish roots of Latin America. The museum is housed in a former synagogue.

Make your reservations for discount hotel rooms in the Miami area, including:

Bay Harbor Inn and Suites
This thoroughly renovated inn is just moments from the beach, fine restaurants, and the Bal Harbour Shops. The inn comes in two parts: The more modern section overlooks a swampy river and a heated outdoor pool. On the other side of the street, "townside," is the cozier, antiques-filled portion, where glass-covered bookshelves hold good beach reading. The rooms have a hodgepodge of wood furnishings (mostly Victorian replicas), while suites boast an extra half-bathroom. You can often smell the aroma of cooking from the restaurant below, which is operated by students at Johnson & Wales Culinary Institute.

Sheraton Bal Harbour Beach Resort
This hotel has the best location in Bal Harbour, on the ocean and just across from the swanky Bal Harbour Shops. Everyone from the New York Yankees to Bill and Hillary Clinton have stayed here, and Bill even jogged along the beach with local fitness enthusiasts. It's one of the nicest Sheratons I've seen, with a glass-enclosed two-story atrium lobby that's especially welcoming. A spectacular staircase wraps itself around a cascading fountain full of wished-on pennies. A lushly landscaped pool area reminds you of an island resort, and a waterslide will keep the kids occupied while you work on your tan. Speaking of kids, a maximum of four children through the age of 17 stay free in existing bedding with at least one adult. Rooms are large and fairly standard as far as Sheratons are concerned, with the exception of oceanview rooms, which have balconies. Make sure to ask for a free coupon book with over $800 in savings at the Bal Harbour Shops.Facilities: 4 restaurants; lounges; 2 outdoor heated pools (1 kids' pool); nearby golf course; 2 outdoor tennis courts; large state-of-the-art health club and spa; watersports equipment; children's programs; game room; concierge; tour desk; business center; shopping arcade; 24-hr. room service; in-room massage; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning.

Royal Palm Crowne Plaza Resort
This conveniently located 422-room resort stands apart from other area resorts in that it's the nation's first and largest African-American owned and developed beachfront resort. Unfortunately, unflattering fluorescent lighting in the lackluster lobby is reminiscent of a sterile hospital ward, despite colorful wall decor by local pop artist Romero Britto. A mish mash of unsightly lobby furniture doesn't help either. The hotel is massive, composed of five buildings located adjacent to Ocean Drive. Three of the five buildings are restored, while the two towers are brand new, and, despite the fact that this resort is a small city, it miraculously maintains a sense of intimacy not typical with many large resorts thanks to the renowned design team Arquitectonica. While the rooms aren't as appealing as the building itself, they are comfortable, modern, and, here's a surprise for a South Beach hotel, remarkably quiet with little or no disturbance from the throbbing bass coming from cars passing by. The outdoor areas of the hotel are pretty, with one pool on a mezzanine level and the other beachside.
