During your St Louis vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:

Missouri History Museum
St. Louis's history is presented through photographs, memorabilia, first-person narratives, portraits, and more, with displays featuring the city's role in westward expansion, the Dred Scott case (which upheld slavery), famous St. Louisans such as Chuck Berry and Tennessee Williams, the 1904 World's Fair held at Forest Park, a replica of Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis plane and other items relating to his life and solo transatlantic flight, and exhibits of the city's past. Allow 1 hour.

St. Louis Art Museum
Housed in a Beaux Arts-style building constructed for the 1904 World's Fair, this great museum is a buffet of the arts, where visitors can sample as much as they like of the displays from around the globe and from virtually all time periods. It contains works ranging from ancient and medieval art to European old masters, French Impressionists, American art from 1800 to 1945, and contemporary art. Its pre-Columbian and German Expressionist collections are ranked among the best in the world (it owns more paintings by Max Beckmann than any museum in the world). Other galleries feature Islamic and ancient art; an Asian collection; an Egyptian collection (including three mummies); arms and armor; and art from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. There are also displays of Chinese, European, and American decorative arts. You should spend at least 2 hours here.

St. Louis Union Station
Once the nation's busiest passenger-rail terminal, this restored 100-year-old terminal is one of St. Louis's biggest attractions and now contains more than 80 specialty shops, restaurants, and even a small lake with paddleboats. Be sure to take a peek at the Grand Hall, now the lobby of the Hyatt Regency.

Make your reservations for discount hotel rooms in the St Louis area, including:

Drury Plaza Hotel
Here's a great location for both business and leisure travelers. More upscale than the other locally owned Drury Inns, this downtown hotel, situated just minutes from the Arch, opened in 2000 in three renovated buildings, including the 1919 Fur Exchange Building, and boasts Italian marble, massive support columns, and Waterford crystal chandeliers in its lobby. Rooms, some with Arch and river views, have microwaves, refrigerators, and free popcorn and soft drinks. Like all Drury properties, they offer free local calls, free evening beverages, and snacks (Mon-Thurs).

Drury Inn Union Station
Part of a St. Louis-based chain, this beautifully restored former YMCA, built in 1907, is across from Union Station and offers rooms with refrigerators, microwaves, and free popcorn and soda; free evening beverages and snacks (Mon-Thurs); free local calls; and many other perks (including laundry facilities), making this a great place for families. Note that some rooms face inward, meaning no views.

Sheraton St. Louis City Center Hotel & Suites
With a great location right next to a MetroLink Station and within walking distance of Union Station and Busch Stadium, this hotel occupies four floors of the renovated Edison Brothers warehouse, distinctive for a trompe l'oeil mural that draws its imagery from St. Louis landmarks and the 1904 World's Fair. Pluses include the in-house parking garage and the 10,000-square-foot sports bar and grill featuring 28 TV screens and live bands on weekends. Rooms are enormous, with standard rooms measuring 550 square feet. Otherwise, rooms are rather ordinary and even seem empty due to their huge size (many also face an inner atrium, making them dark as well) but are equipped with refrigerators.
