If you’re into wacky, obstacle-driven fun on your Florida vacation, the Warrior Dash – a three-mile race along an extreme course – is for you. Slotted for Dec. 3 in Deerfield Beach in South Florida, and Jan. 21 and 22 in Lake Wales in Central Florida, the beer-soaked extravaganza features costumed participants in warrior helmets, and challenges from fire-leaping to hay bale-climbing at every turn.
Honest disclosure: As a female, I fully believe that most Caribbean vacations — actually, most vacations in general — should be mixed-gender. Women make things more fun, plus, we always are the ones who remember the sunblock. But if you’re planning on four solid days of spear-fishing or survival training or anything that gets dirt/fish scales under the fingernails, I pass. You and your backpack-heaving buddies have my blessing to hit any of the amazing, remote, outdoorsy Caribbean vacation destinations below, have fun, take pictures, try to avoid major bruises, and I’ll see you when you’re back to civilization.
You shouldn’t have to look too hard to find an affordable place to stay in America’s state and national parks.
Having a child doesn’t mean bringing your adventure travel to a halt. You just have to broaden your definition of adventure.
