Low Price Guarantee on hotels: bigger payout, extended deadline

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

hotel1We’ve sweetened the Orbitz Low Price Guarantee on hotels to ensure customers get the lowest hotel rates online.

Customers who find their prepaid hotel room available for a lower price on any site, including Orbitz, can receive a refund for the difference and a $50 discount on a future hotel or vacation package booking. Plus, customers can now submit a claim right up to the time of the property’s cancellation deadline.

And that’s not the only price protection Orbitz gives hotel bookers. Under Hotel Price Assurance, Orbitz will send a cash refund automatically if another Orbitz customer books the same prepaid hotel room for less.

So there you have it: Our hotel rates are so low, we’ve got money on it.

Top hotels for family vacations in Myrtle Beach

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Family vacation By Robin Gallagher

I love family vacations at Myrtle Beach because there are endless things to keep my kids busy: miniature golf, arcades, amusements, indoor play areas, and water parks to mention a few … oh yeah, and the beach! There are also beautiful golf courses where my husband can sneak away, and I can hit the Tanger Outlets for upscale shopping at discount prices in the evenings.

In addition to being jam-packed with activities for adults and kids, the area is affordable for families who want to spend quality time together with out spending a ton of money. Here are some of my favorite places to eat, sleep and play on the cheap:

Orbitz Hotel Price Assurance: Go Ahead, Book Early

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Harford_Hovercraft By Barney Harford, President & CEO, Orbitz Worldwide

We’re announcing today the launch of Hotel Price Assurance, an industry-leading innovation that promises you the best Orbitz rate when you book a hotel on Orbitz.com. Hotel Price Assurance is all about providing peace of mind to customers who want to book early but be protected in case rates drop later  — and it’s completely automatic.

No one else is doing this for hotels.  Once again Orbitz is leading the way, as we did with the launch of Flight Price Assurance last year.

Here’s how it works: You book any pre-paid hotel on Orbitz, another Orbitz customer subsequently books the same hotel stay at a lower rate, and Orbitz automatically sends you a check for the difference. If you’re really lucky, we’ll deliver it by hovercraft.

The launch of Hotel Price Assurance comes on the heels of the groundbreaking introduction of Total Price hotel search results at the same time as the launch of our aggressive Hotel Fee Cut promotion just a couple of weeks ago. And the launch a month ago of our Biggest Hotel Sale Ever.

There’s really no reason to look anywhere else when you need to book a hotel. And we’re taking that message to America in the new Orbitz TV ad that airs for the first time today. Check it out here:
