I have stayed at Marino beach hotel many times now and also stayed old established high star rated hotels in colombo, by far, the rooms, modern aminities, and the convinies as well as value for the money is best in Marino Beach hotel and will continue to stay when i return to Sri Lanka.
Hotel is located in a very convenient place. Rooms are clean spacious and has all modern amenities. Pool is gorgeous

Overalls, this was a great place. The Infiniti pool is great if you can get a seat. It would also be nice if they had more seats with the option of shade. Or maybe they purposely have full sun only seats by the pool to get more turnover? The food at the tide restaurant was decent - great variety & catered to tourists and less spicy than the traditional Sri Lankan food we had outside of the restaurant. This was greatly appreciated since we went to a couple of local places nearby like the curry hut which was spicier than we could handle (we’re definitely on the wimpier side of spicy though). The spa was great but the special massage from Katherine was basically a combination of swedish/deep massage. It was a nice, deep massage. I’m not sure id they just switched the massage because that’s who was available. I would still recommend it.

Pluses: The buffet breakfast is very comprehensive satisfying and fulfilling every palate. The infinity pool and the green space on the 10th floor are relaxing and serene. The Chinese restaurant, Shiwu, on the 10th floor has good food. We had a room facing the Arabian sea and the view was great. Minuses: The shower stall door didn't have a proper water seal and so the water always spilled out, requiring more towels on the floor to absorb the spill. The laundry service was mediocre and required several calls to get the laundry back. They also lost a couple of our garments. The stairs were locked (perhaps for security) and thus the wait for elevators was inordinately and frustratingly long. We had to use the service elevators at times.
The property was centrally located with an amazing rooftop pool. If in Colombo again I would definitely stay here again.
