The hotel was great but after walking around we will consider another hotel closer to subway. Queens was good location when ... going into Manhatten but the walk to subway and cabs became hard and costly but we will return with the grandkids next time. Great retail stores and food places that was really reasonable. I do wish that the small hotels could contract w/ a shuttle company to provide for customers which to me would be cheaper and well needed evening going to airport.

shopping for little gifts and good price on eating locations along with food being excellent and quite a bit for your money. Walking is somewhat fair depending on the age and person. Very costly with taxi and the black linmos, a shuttle would be great or ride-on for a fair price. There is no dining options there so I will rate a 3, you have to take it back to your room.

Fantastic vacation time

My trip to NY was a marvelous experience and the Howard Johnson hotel contributed to this experience. The Howard Johnson ... Hotel is on a perfect location 4-5 blocks away from the subway. The bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and the taxi service is fine. The staff was very helpful and nice. I really liked the hotel. And of course, if I need to go to NY again I will stay at the Howard Johnson on Queens Blvd.

We wanted a get away. The staff at this place was great. I lost Black Onxy Charm off of my necklace. The House keeping Dept. ... took the room apart looking for it for me. They were very considerate and left me a note stating that they did not find it. But they really took the time out of there busy day to help me. I appreciated there thoughtfullness. This was a great place to stay.

Pretty Good Deal
Den Aug 25, 2009
The hotel was a good value. While somewhat sparse on room size and amenities, the hotel had all the essentials. The hotel ... was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Although our room faced noisy Queens Blvd., a major thoroughfare into Manhattan, we could not hear any street sounds. The hotel staff was courtious. The complimentary breakfast was limited to cold cereal, juice and pastries, but the coffee was delicious. My only complaint was that the reception of the cable TV in my room was poor. I think, however, that problems was caused by a bad cable connection into my TV and not symptomatic of a problem throughout the hotel. I would return to this hotel.

The location was great as I split my time between Manhattan and Long Island. However, parking is very limited in the lot, ... often had to park in neighborhood. Also, the rooms are very small, if reasonable clean. Not a luxury, but decent for the price, especially in NYC.

Since I have tried to contact you by other means, and was not successful in getting the message to you, I am writing to you ... here. My question is when I booked the hotel room from your organization, I was quoted a price of $186.plus. When I left the hotel I asked about the final cost and was told it was $142.plus. My question is why the difference between the two? I thought that there was no booking fee. Would you please explain the difference. When I returned home my Discover Card bill was waiting for me. I saw that you charged my account on June 30th the $186.plus to my account. Please let me know why the difference. Thanks

KB May 26, 2009
We stayed for 2 nights on a sightseeing visit to New York. The Hotel is situated in easy reach (10 mins walk and 30 mins ... subway) from Manhattan. The neighbourhood was quiet and we felt very safe. We were put into 2 rooms in the basement, one room was very small and the other was a shoebox! The rooms had all the amenities listed. The front desk were not very helpful, our request to change rooms was denied and they refused to store our bags for the day after we checked out, as we had an evening flight(company policy!) I suppose you get what you pay for so don't expect too much!

The rooms were described as "spacious". I would not agree with that, though they were fairly clean and the beds are king ... sized. At check-in we were told yes, we did get adjoining rooms, but they were at opposite ends of the hallway. We had no other problems. It was much more quiet than I expected. There was free breakfast. It was about a ten minute walk to the subway. Hotels closer to the city cost much more, so all in all, I'd say this was a pretty good.

US Open Tennis Tournament
Daryl Sep 4, 2007
After arriving early we were able to check in because a room was ready. The staff was not overly friendly, but answered any ... questions we had. The room had a king size bed which made for very tight accomodations. There was no closet and the window was on noisy Queens blvd, but did not really bother us at night. The trip to the Tennis center was only 15 mins away via metro #7 train and was very convenient for late night matches. The train station was not very close, It was about a 10 minute walk. It wasn't too bad. But if you have trouble walking (slightly hilly) don't carry a lot of luggage or you may want to grab a cab from the metro to the hotel.

If you take the 62nd street Long Island Railroad (LRR) train entrance it saves you about a 1 block walk to catch the metro instead of going to 61st street.

The hotel was new and clean. The staff was not friendly and the room was very small and claustrophobic, though. The best ... thing about the hotel is that it is located about 10 min. to the subway station that takes you directly to Times Square. I would recomend to a friend considering that you are not going to spend much time in the hotel...
