Nice Room, Some unprofessional staff
Uncanny resemblance Nov 11, 2009
I arrived at the Annabella Hotel on a Saturday Morning at 10am for a 3 night stay in the concierge level room , I was very ... pleased that I was able to pre-check in and just picked up my room key when returning to the hotel that evening. The room was very nice and the beds was one of the most comfortable I have ever experienced at a hotel. The Restaurant was just ok, we had breakfast there, which came to 50 dollars and the portions were very small. On the 2nd morning I was there I happened to check my bank balance and noticed an additional $150 hold on my account in addition to the $100 dollars that was held at check in. I called the front desk and asked why I had this hold and she replied that it was due to the $140 dollars I had charged to my room at the restaurant the night before, I informed her that I had not eaten there that night and that there was a mistake, she said "i'll have to call the restaurant and check it out, I'll call you back." About 10 minutes later she called me back and said "Ok I talked to the restaurant they accidently charged it to your room, come to the front desk and I'll reverse the hold" (Please not the absence of any apologies) I went to the front desk and was on the phone with my bank for about 20 minutes going back and forth on the phone between the front desk clerk and myself. The bank was able to reverse the hold and I hung up the phone and handed it back to the front desk clerk. There was a moment of awkward silence when I asked "At the very least is there anyway you can waive my parking charges for the next 3 days for this inconvenience?" She had a very puzzled look on her face and said"Well I might be able to do 1 night, but I mean, the hold was taken away.." I replied " I realize that and am glad, but Im upset that this happened in the first place, I ate in the restaurant the morning I arrived and they asked for a name in addition to the room number, $140 should never have been charged to me, its a pretty big over sight and had I not checked my bank this morning I night have incurred overdraft charges" Her reply was "Well the restaurant is separate from the hotel, that's why I had to call them to verify, the hold was taken off . ." She paused and looked to the woman to her left like she was the one doing me a favor and that my request was ridiculous. I said " So a one night parking fee totaling 10 dollars is all your willing to give me (which I had to ask for)" She did not reply but just kept looking at the woman working next to her like I was being a total witch. I was pretty upset and already late to get to Disneyland so I just said "Thank you" and left. Again it seemed like she thought that she was doing me a favor by getting the hold taken off and at no point was apologetic for the situation. I just felt like it all was handled very unprofessionally. I'm not a person who is always looking to get something free, I actually would have preferred her being apologetic and courteous as apposed to getting some free parking. Oh and I failed to mention that this fiasco happened on the morning of my birthday. All in all I would say I enjoyed the Hotel room itself, but not the staff or restaurant.

Delighted Disney fan! Nov 9, 2009
This was a prime location to Disneyland without the prime price of staying on Disney property. The Tangerine Grill offered a ... tasty lunch, and Tiffy's next door has excellent pancakes, as well. My only not-so-shining moment was a visit to the salon/spa. Although they could accomodate me quickly for an underarm waxing, they forced the eyebrow and lip wax on me (against my complaints!) and then charged me for the service. I would avoid the salon and just stay in and around my room. The staff was also SUPER friendly and accomodating. I had a lightbulb out in my room, and it was fixed within minutes.

California Weekend
Penny Wise Nov 7, 2009
This hotel is in a prime location, as it is across the street from Disneyland, right next door to the Convention Center and ... there are several restaurants within walking distance. The hotel staff was pleasent and accomodating. My visit with my family was very enjoyable. I would stay here again, but would ask for a room in one of the interior buildings, as my room was on the side of the Convention Center and it was very noisy in the morning and evening. I ate at the Tangerine restaurant at the hotel in the mornings. The food was good and reasonably priced. The waiter the first day was very good when I was with my daughter-in-law and granddaughter. But the next day when I was alone, the waitress was overwhelmed with the amount of tables she was serving and the manager had to take care of me. The waitress ignored me and spent time talking to a family instead of taking care of my order and my check. I did mention this on the comment card and hope that this waitress will get better in the future.

Fabulous Stay
D-land Girl Nov 2, 2009
I first was skeptical about staying at the Anabella, but after checking in and finally going up to the room I was glad I ... booked a room there. The room was super clean and spacious for my husband and I. We arrived Thursday and on Friday we went to Disneyland. I kind of hesitated to walk to Disneyland since previous reviews I read mentioned that it was a pretty long walk. But after seeing a lot of people from the hotel walk to Disneyland,my husband and I decided to take the walk. Instead of going towards Harbor Dr. we took Disneyland Dr. and cut through the Californian Hotel, let me tell you, it was a pleasant walk (about 10 min)to and from D-land. We enjoyed our stay so much, we are planning a trip back at the end of the year.

Good location, nice pool, but...
Dissapointed Travelers Oct 29, 2009
We returned to Anabella Hotel after 6 years since we had a wonderful experience back then. What we found out however was that ... the hotel is not what it used to be. The room was very noisy, every morning the cleaning staff would wake us while dragging their carts and by talking at a normal level. A couple of the lights in the room didn't work, the remote control for the TV didn't work, the TV had chipped screen. We tried to print directions from their business center only to find out it costs you $8 USD a day to use their slow and old computers. One of the three computers didn't even work properly and it would freeze every couple of seconds. They do charge you $10 USD/night for parking and $10 USD/day for wireless Internet. These two fees are usually charged on high-end hotels, which, apart from location the Anabella doesn't quite cut it. On the plus side, the pool is nice and their happy hour is worth it. The staff was great all around. For future trips to the area, we will keep the Anabella Hotel in mind but will not be our first option at all.
