Very nice hotel
business traveller Oct 27, 2009
The hotel was very nice and the brunch was delicious. The metro stop was just at the end of the block which was very ... convenient for getting back and forth to my meetings and sight-seeing. The beds were clean and comfortable, although the chairs in the room were a little stained and worn out. The water pressure was also a little lacking (for the shower and toilet), but that may have been because we were on the top floor. Overall, I would stay there again.

MY experience couldn't have been any better. As a first time visitor to D.C. I often asked a lot of questions about where to ... eat and how to use the Metro, etc. The staff was terribly helpful and polite. The room was so luxurious. I often found it hard to leave bed in order to do tourist-y things!

I would have enjoyed a listing of restaurants near the hotel - menus, addresses, recommendations, etc. - in the room. There are plenty of drawers that could hold a notebook with menus along with bibles.

Beautiful, historical hotel
Carly Oct 5, 2009
We were tourists and saw almost everything that we wanted to see in two days. The hotel was right in the middle of everything ... and we walked to dinner at three different restaurants on three nights. We used the trolleys which picked you up right in front of the hotel. The hotel is gorgeous. The rooms are very small, but comfortable. The window looked out on the other side of the building, so no views.....

A great old hotel
Spike Sep 29, 2009
The concierge, [...], is the most helpful concierge I've ever met. She took care of our every need with a smile, remembered ... our names, and was just generally delightful. My only complaints, are mino: there is no room delivery of the newspapers on Saturday and Sunday; the lobby cocktail waitress was alone and overwhelmed on a rainy Saturday, so service was very slow, and the icebuckets in the room were without liners and the water never emptied. But it was a very large, very quiet and clean room, and in all, the experience was delightful.

We checked in very late and didn't get the bed arrangement that we had requested. The following day they upgraded us (at no ... extra charge) to a very spacious executive double. Hotel is conveniently located 1 block from Metro. Concierge made some wonderful restaurant recommendation. Staff was very friendly; nice breakfast buffet; charming older hotel.

Confirm, confirm, confirm!
kangie Jul 1, 2009
We appreciated the convenience to the Metro and DuPont Circle. We were actually close enough to walk to the White House and ... Mall area, and found many great restaurants nearby. We asked for a king size bed, and the add described the rooms having a living space. However, we were offered a queen or two doubles and told that even though we called the hotel to confirm a king size bed, the hotel doesn't actually offer confirmations. Apparently, you have to get a confirmation of the type of room you want in writing and bring it with you to the front desk upon registering. We were able to work it out, but it took two days and two conversations with the manager. Oh, and I think "living space" includes a desk and chair. The hotel is nice, safe, pretty clean and has ammenities that you would expect. The location is great -- you can't beat it. We're not sure we would pick this hotel if we were travelling with kids -- you need more room in the room and definitely a pool!!!

We were met immediately at our car. Luggage was retrieved. We were taken to our room promptly and we had a lovely overnight ... stay. Dinner in the Promenade Cafe was delicious (Maryland crab cakes, soup, salad) Service was attentive and friendly. Continental breakfast and lunch were more than satisfactory. Throughout the stay we were very satisfied. Room was clean, bed very comfy. Only negatives were no tissue box anywhere in the smaller than usual bedroom.

I went to DC for the Memorial Day Weekend. I have been in a few, the same class hotels in DC before and have to admit that ... this one is the best so far. The room was very clean and big enough, bathroom absolutely amazing, big, new and really nice. The AC was a bit loud but I saw worse in different hotels. The only thing I didn't like was that on the street where our room's window was located was a club and I could hear the music until 2am. Try to pick a room on higher floor, mine was on second, and I believe that would help with the noise. Besides that everything was perfect. Will definitely come back there!

The Mayflower Renisiannce was in a great location with museums, attractions, shopping and restaurants within walking ... distance. The hotel was very welcoming and elegant. There was a beautiful breakfast buffet. We had an issue with the hotel security. We had to call them on 3 occassions one night when some drunken guests were being very loud and disruptive at 3:45 a.m. Management was apologetic in the morning, but we had never experienced anything like this in such an elegant hotel.

I called the hotel after making the Orbitz reservation because I was travelling with children and wanted to request a two ... doubles. However when we got there they did not have my request and they said they were booked and only one queen bed and that they would bring a cot up. The front desk seemed nonchalant and said that there was nothing they could do. The room they put us in barely fit our luggage let alone a cot. Our bellhop went down with us and we spoke to the front desk and we finally got the room we booked. I mean it almost seemed like they wanted to renege on the deal we got through Orbitz which was not cool at all.
