Average Hotel, Beautiful Location
First Class Traveler Sep 1, 2009
The location of this hotel is wonderful. Not too far from the North Carolina border and it is truly oceanfront. The hotel ... provided a nice pool area and direct access to the beach, which is the best feature of the hotel. The suite was acceptable, Beautiful view, not extremely clean but not dirty. The TVs were outdated and there was no window in the bedroom. The parking garage is not connected to the hotel and it is narrow. This hotel is not brand new and it will not be my first choice when I return to North Myrtle Beach, but I would not hesitate to stay here as a last minute option.

Go to Calabash NC. It is a 15 minute drive and watch the shrimp boats come in and eat some good calabash style seafood.

Great deal on children's lunches--we shared two or more of these each day for lunch during our 6 day stay. The food was very good, plenty of it and was reasonably priced. Can't say the same for the breakfast bar which we only used once. What kind of gravy is that anyway?? It looked nasty but I thought I would give it a doubt but it tasted as nasty as it looked!

We had a 3 year old with us and I was very disappointed to see knobs on the front of the stove within his reach--had to ... remove the knobs. The washer/dryer combo took 3.5 hours to complete a VERY small load. This is not a brand new resort--we were told by staff that it was 4 years old. It needs work on the carpet in hallways as well as inside the rooms. The outdoor temperature was never higher than 70 and very windy but the lazy river was closed one day and the indoor pool was closed two days of our chilly weather stay.

My review of Avista Resort
Tracy Oct 5, 2008
VERY DOG FRIENDLY hotel........... If you like the smell of dog urine permeating your hotel room, this is the place. ... And also the GNATS, which the management decided to spray with POISON, when asked not to. They sprayed twice for the GNATS and didn't kill them....but the POISON SMELL & DOG URINE SMELL just about capped our experience. We slept with the door open to the patio and a fan going 24/7 just to try to breathe. The management of this hotel does not care about anything. They do what they want and ignore all requests. The housekeeping staff was dismal also. They could not even manage to empty the trash one day, so I did it myself and put it in the hallway. Just Spectacular. The location is nice, but next time I think we'll buy a tent because we are the only ones who CARE.

Dennis Sep 12, 2008
The place was very nice, very comfortable, all except one girl staff was friendly. The pools are small, if peak I can't ... imagine that being comfortable. Close to main street where you can do somethings and not have to drive, not too far to get to restaurants when you do. Washer and dryer did not work but evryday had fresh towels, good room service and over all thought was very nice. They need to clean up parking garage, not too roomy if you have a bigger car.

this was a great hotel we had a great view, it was quiet and we had a lot of privacy! the only problem we had was ... discrimination! im 20 yrs old i paid for the room, i have a steady job live by myself have a good car (with nice payments of course) and take care of my 3 yr old daughter BY MYSELF yet im not responisble enough to stay at the hotel without having to fork out another hundred dollars for a deposit because i am under 25! i understand that some younger visiters may party and tear the rooms up but i felt discriminated against and held liable for others mistakes

We travel to Myrtle Beach frequently and the Avista was one of the nicest resorts we have stayed in. The room was wonderful ... with the bedroom being separate from the living area and also having a fully equipped kitchen. The bathroom was great and very roomy! Staff was friendly and helpful. Only drawback is the outdoor pool was somewhat small. Very close to many restaurants and attractions. Great resort and we would stay again!

TERRY Jun 23, 2007
This is a great place to stay. The employees were absolutely the most personable and polite people I have met at a resort. ... When you called for something from housekeeping or room service, they would call back in 10 minutes, to make sure that your request had been addressed...fabulous service and it was very clean and well cared for. The restaurant had a nice breakfast as well. I will stay there again and the location is convenient to alot of shopping and tourist attractions in Myrtle Beach.

The Avista was luxirious and comfortable. Watching the sunrise over the ocean was spectacular. The living room was spacious ... and well-furnished. The bathroom was huge - lots of space to spread out necessities Hallways were wide and quiet - room entrances were recessed from the hallway, so noise was eliminated.
