The 21st eatery in Nobu's empire of eponymous hot spots features sultry modern Asian design: Ruby-hued banquettes and organic textures glow beneath the golden hue of silkworm cocoon lanterns. Cool electronic beats do nothing to dampen the high energy here, and Hollywood heavies seem to feel right at home with the sexy playground vibe. Nobu's Peruvian-angled Japanese cuisine has by now has become L.A.'s celebrity comfort food with classics like yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno and uni tempura, as well as new brick-oven dishes such as Kobe skirt steak and wasabi duck breast. The Spanish Kitchen

Modeled after a Mexican villa, this hot spot greets patrons with an intimate, fireplace-warmed patio. Inside, beautiful couples sip margaritas at the long curved bar, in crescent-shaped booths or at candlelit tables on the slightly raised second level. Wrought-iron chandeliers, mosaic tiles and a colorful wall mural add traditional touches. Black-and-red-clad servers are quick to offer suggestions. The Belmont

On weekends, stylish guests line the bar and spill over onto nearby banquettes and huge leather ottomans. Alcohol-fueled conversation and laughter bounce off the concrete floor, creating a party atmosphere. The smoker-friendly front patio draws its own crowd. KOI

The Scene Guarded by towering bamboo spikes, this sprawling La Cienega space houses four dining rooms, a patio with a glowing fireplace, a lounge and a bustling sushi bar. A chic Asian theme is accented by crimson hues, dark-wood beams and Buddha statues. Couples fill tables in candelit dining rooms, while decked-out singles sip sake and size up the action on the patio. The Food Sushi and traditional Japanese favorites are generally well executed, but it's the chef's signature menu that fuels this party scene. Like Japanese tapas, these tasty tidbits are small and easily shared. Lightly seared spicy tuna on quarter-size bed of crispy rice is a perfect bite-size treat. Other favorites include buttery black cod glazed with miso sauce, sweet broiled Alaskan king crab legs coated with garlic-butter sauce, and tuna sashimi boosted by jalapeno pepper. Urth Cafe

The Scene Urth is all-natural inside and out: Blonde wood, feathery green papyrus plants and turbinado sugar say it all. Place your order among the madding crowd at the counter and then try to nab a spot on the terraced patio, where model-types balance their organic meals by puffing on Marlboros. The Food Munch on the signature salad made with spinach, pine nuts and feta. Sink into a creamy chicken curry panini, or savor the rich, tomatoey gazpacho. Whatever you choose, just make sure to save room for dessert. Baked from scratch with mostly organic ingredients including fresh juice, sweet cream butter and toasted nuts, they keep crowds coming back for more. Cloudlike berry cake, 18-Carrot Gold cake, deep-dish apple pie and classic New York cheesecake earn their reputations. Le Petite Bistro

In Short High ceilings, Art Deco posters and a walled-in patio transports diners from L.A. to the Left Bank. The dulcet tones of French expatriates and Gallic wanna-bes fill the warm, welcoming space. Le Petit Bistro's menu is a Cal-French combination, with health-conscious concessions like oil-free slabs of blackened salmon and barely seared ahi. Traditional bistro dishes include grilled entrecote (rib-eye steak) and escargot slicked with garlic. The herb-roasted chicken is sided by pommes frites. In Short At once a Pop Art museum and haven for new millennium hotties, this mid-century themed nightclub balances '60s-style wall designs with modern touches like LED lighting above the dance floor. Caramel-flecked terrazzo floors support low-lying white leather sofas and two sleek bars. Waitresses clad in thigh-high white boots attend to too-cool onlookers with premium bottle service, and everyone else posing nearby. Stone Fire Pizza

In Short Inside a charming one-story bungalow, carb-craving hipsters have discovered this late-night pizzeria backed by one of the owners of Spanish Kitchen. Converse-sporting 30-somethings and local designers enter an etched-limestone, covered patio lounge with bench seating and tech-y flat-panel TV display. The interior dining room is divided between a lively bar area and an intimate bistro-style eating area adjacent to the open kitchen. The lengthy menu includes buckwheat pastas, entree-sized salads, and signature thin-crust or Chicago-style pizzas topped with filet mignon, vegan soy sausage or clams. Walking distance from Le Parc.

Ago

This Tinseltown fave still banks on its big-name backers (Robert De Niro and the brothers Weinstein), but it's the food and scene that keeps the tables filled. Like the clientele, it's as elegantly caszh as an Armani suit and like Chef Agostino Sciandri, it's authentic Italian--from the classic fare in the dining room to the paparazzi in the parking lot. Anyone who's ever eaten Italian will recognize the menu, but that's beside the point. Industry honchos can vicariously relive their Italian childhoods by night, even if they've never set foot outside California. Bring on the brick-oven baked pizza or flaky whitefish. Even better, forget the entree and share a few appetizers (burrata, fritto mare) and homemade desserts (don't miss the creamy ricotta cake). Regulars start with platters of (unlisted) burrata (fresh mozzarella with a creamy center) encircled by slivers of prosciutto and crowned with green beans and diced tomatoes. The Ivy

It's all so perfect behind the white picket fence, isn't it? Known as much for its only-in-L.A. pricetags as it is for its paparazzi-lined front patio, this iconic cottage is the quintessential see and be seen spot in La-La Land. Unlike the super-sleek loungey look of other power dining spots, the interior here is shabby chic and cluttered to the max: Peeling furniture, faded chintz, old paintings, enormous bouquets of fresh flowers and tables packed so closely together it's almost a requirement to weigh less than 100 pounds. Celebrity sightings are par for the course (remember when pre-breakup J.Lo and Ben stopped by to prove that everything was okay between them?) and the menu is traditional American, with comfort classics like piled-high Cobb salad, mesquite-grilled Cajun prime rib, fried chicken and flaky white fish. And don't forget the famed gimlet--ordering it here is almost compulsory.
