Great Family Experience
Dad Traveling With Kids Jun 15, 2009
The La Costa Resort in Carlsbad CA was as pleasant an experience as I have ever had traveling with my oldest child. The ... facility was very clean and the staff proffesional. Every possible amenity of a 4/5 star resort was available. The kids programs were excellent and the pool was a big hit; all 4 of them. (I think there are 6 total.) Just 20 minutes from San Diego and minutes to the ocean and lots of great beach towns. My son (6) was treated like a paying guest, not an accessory, and that is a huge plus. High marks for their receptiveness of kids. Just a note, if you travel on one of their "kids are free specials" read the fine print. I did and I knew the rules going into it. It made life much easier. There were some mom's and dads complaining around me, but it was clear that they had not done their homework. The restaurant staff in the Legends Restaurant was slow, but I think it was more because they were understaffed and very busy as this is the primary restaurants. Regardless, they were always polite and proffesional. Frankly; staying here is not a budget trip. Be prepared to spend some extrat money on food and activites. However, all in all, A GREAT RESORT. Finding good high end resorts that are children friendly is not easy. I would specifically return with my entire family again, and I traveled all the way from Atlanta GA.

Don't park before trying to check in. The lot is a quarter mile away. Drop off one person to get the room keys, then drive to room, then drop off your car in the lot afterward. Also, valet service, which a friend got, lost his car, and he had to go hunt for it in the lot.

Was there for a short stay, so didn't try many of the amenities. The jacuzzis were open late, so that was nice. Service was ... good, and they were able to accomodate a complicated special request without any problems. Took a look at the golf course (not enough time to play, unfortunately) and while it looked to be in fine shape, it wasn't in the immaculate condition you'd expect for a course in that price range. Rooms were spacious, spotless and comfortable, but isn't it time to upgrade to an HD TV package? Over-the-air broadcasts seem antiquated.

Spa, Spa, Spa!
Tricia Dec 15, 2008
We spent our Honeymoon here and must say it was unforgettable! The cost is expensive but it was well worth it! We live in ... the area, but wanted to get away after eloping on the beach in Del Mar! As honeymooner's in the off season we were well taken care of! Room service had excellent selection and was delicious! But the main feature we will be back for was the spa! We spent 3-4 hours a day with so many ammenaties it was hard to leave! Relaxing in the steam room and getting scrubbed before the massage, then meeting my husband outside for lunch, roman showers or soaking in the hot tub together. We were able to relax, connect, and cuddle together in our robes on the lounge chairs and watch the sun set. We enjoyed the room (golf course view) and had so much privacy that we brought our DVD player and stayed in bed all night! Also enjoyed the spacious soaking tub in room! We had gifts sent from friends (wedding cake, flowers, mini christmas tree, candles) none of which was disturbed by the cleaning staff... making us feel at home! Thank you La Costa!

found the resort to be family friendly, while maintaining a peacefulness. we did not travel with children and found our trip ... very enjoyable. We used the spa and the restaurnats and found everyone to be acommadating and friendly. The resort was acessible to the highway, and concierge had great recommendations of where to go in the area, ie wineriers, restaurants in Lajolla and beaches. All i can say is we loved it. We would definitely come back here again.

LaCosta Resort and Spa was exactly what we were looking for. We had a room with a golf course view and a veranda. It was ... quiet with a beautiful view. The pool area was very clean and very well kept up. The room was very clean and the hotel staff were friendly. Parking was about the only issue, if you do choose not to valet park, the self-parking lot is quite a far walk to your room. We really enjoyed ourselves and I would recommend this place to my friends and family.

OLD FACILITY WITH POOR BUILDING LAYOUT
philip Dec 5, 2007
It is a poorly organized site with inadiquate signage and which makes pedestrian circulation extemely difficult. The entry to ... the lobby is confusing and far away from vehicle access. There is a poor associaion of the conference facility to the main hotel complex and the new time shares make it difficult to find the southern rooms. The room was old and the outside circulation cold and not inviteing. The bed was good and the bathroom elegant with a very low ceiling.

Las Costa Resort was beautifully landscaped and the grounds were immaculate. The pool with the slides were fun for the ... kids. The room was unspectacular - the bed was the most uncomfortable mattress we have ever been on - I could actually feel the springs under me. There were spider webs in the corners of the ceiling/walls. Our dinner at the Blue Fire Grille was unnaceptable - it took over an hour before we got our entrees and they were cold. The staff did apologize and comped us 2 glasses of wine, but we left very unimpressed. Overall, we had a nice weekend, and the staff was very nice, but we left disappointed and will not go back.

My review of La Costa Resort and Spa
Kirstin Jun 10, 2007
We had a great experience at La Costa. Phoning from our room, the front desk helped ugrade us to an unbelievable suite with ... golf course views for a great price. The rooms are beautiful, bathroom and amenities first rate. We enjoyed spending time hanging out at the bar, and actually wound up eating 2 dinners there. The bartender is a wonderful person. Amenities like pool and fitness center are awesome. As a person who loves Spas, I was looking forward to using their services, however we opted not to go - it seems very nice, but it was quite expensive. The hotel itself is kind of in the middle of suburbia/strip mall area - but you'd never know it once you are on property. The surrounding area is beautiful, you aren't too far from ocean, and close to other cute towns like Del Mar, La Jolla, etc. I would strongly recommend this place.
