Not so good

Peter Oct 25, 2009

When I checked in they said the internet did not work in the room I was going to be in. So they gave me a room that was being ... remodeled where the internet did work. Unfortunately there was no cold water in the sink and the complete end of the faucet in the tub was broken off so the water shot out to the end of the tub. It was not possible to take a shower. They did change my room the next day. The orange juice was Tang, and the first day they had to make more coffee for the continental breakfast. the second day at 830 the coffee had run out and I was told there was no more coffee. On the first day there was cereal scattered all over the counter. I was told that was because of construction workers but no one cleaned it up. For 2 days there were large pieces of mud on the stairs going up stairs. I would only recommend this hotel for construction workers.

gave it the benefit of the doubt.. :(

College Student Sep 30, 2009

We stayed on a Saturday night since my parents were dropping me off at A&M the next day because it was cheap and there ... weren't any other hotels with vacancies. We had read the reviews, but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and stayed anyways (we didn't have many options). When we got there, there was a family in our room and drunk people who were friends of a worker hanging out by the pool (& we later found out they were staying at the hotel for half the price we were..). It so happened that two other families had the same ordeal as we did. The a/c wasn't working in three rooms and the solution we were given was to swap rooms.. it was ridiculous! The family who had been in our room had had the a/c on for FIVE hours and it still wasn't cooling, but the employee told us that they just weren't being patient. I had never been a victim of racism, but it just so happened that the three families were all of color, and when a white woman went to tell of the same problem, they quickly moved her to a suite but she didn't take the offer since she knew what had been going on with us. instead, she gave her room key to the family who had been there longer and left BUT the white male employee told the family that they couldn't take that room.. it made no sense! When the maintenance man got there he took out the a/c unit from our room and we found that it was filthy! there was mold where the unit had been and we were left to wait there until it was cleaned. We didn't have any place other to go, so we stayed. As we waited in our room, to our surprise the employee simply walks in the door to apologize! Now, that was a little weird.. I'm pretty sure that that wasn't very professional. Who wants a strange man who you've just met to just walk into your room as if he was a part of their party? We didn't up getting to rest in our room until midnight when our room should've been ready for us at 3. (The family that came after us had left, and the family before us was given a different room, not the suite of course.) And that's not even when it ends! [...]Now we know that for move-in week we'll have to book early in order to avoid getting stuck with that place! & the continental breakfast was coffee, orange juice, and some plastic-wrapped muffins. Don't give it the benefit of the doubt! [...]

Would recommend to a friend!

Hotel is somewhat dated, the parking lot has some pot holes and parking security/safety is questionable. The room was great ... as we got one of the "new" or actually remodeled rooms. The safety latch was not working, but the door did have a dead bolt.

Filthy place, should be closed

Out 60 bucks and I don't care Aug 18, 2009

Orbitz should remove this hotel from their list. It is not suitable for pets let alone humans. The carpet was dirty, stained ... and burned. The bathroom was dirty. The nice manager showed me the newly remodled room as an upgrade - it was also filthy. I didn't even check in, I looked at the room and told him I was not staying there. It was so bad I didn't even care I wouldn't get a refund through Orbitz. If the room was visibly filthy I can only imagine what is crawling around in the bed and at night with the lights out. YUCK!!! Do not stay here!!!

Best value?

library tourist Jul 26, 2009

The room was dark and dirty. There were sunflower seed casings amassed behind the bed, and it appeared that the rest of the ... room was as carelessly vacuumed. While the bathroom had been modestly cleaned, the chipped paint on the walls paled in comparison to the rust stains on the drain. There was no clock/alarm clock nor a functioning lock on the door.

VERY SCARY

Terri Dec 19, 2008

When I checkekd in it was late. Very poorly lighted people just sitting out in a car in the front of the hotel at the front ... door. Room was infested with bugs and the ceiling was covered in mildew. It looked like it was about to fall in. I continued to get up to check that our car was still int he lot. I brought my granddaughter with me and I was afraid for her feet to touch the ground. Never Again!!!!!!!!

Low performance but not surprising with low expectations

Teresa Oct 19, 2008

The price was high for a good hotel but this place was a pigs sty. The price was inflated for the Texas Tech vs Texas A&M ... football game but the quality was poor. Our room was never cleaned and we never got clean towels and the bath room and vanity were worn out. This was our first and last stay at an Americas Best Value Motel.

Moved after one night.

Jason Oct 6, 2008

The motel staff were friendly, but the room was not somewhere we would stay again. The room was non-smoking but had a wet ... carpet and smoke odor. The television didn't have a remote and the panel to change the channel had an exposed circuit board and wires. The worst part was the bed. Half the bed was firm and the other half felt like you were laying on springs. If you layed on the firm side it was angled to the middle of the bed so two people had to sleep smashed together. That is not an exaggeration. In general it looks like the property is in need of maintenance, except for the pool. The small pool looked well kept, but we didn't use it. The bathroom was pretty clean except for a little mold in the corner of the tub, and the AC was very cold. Breakfast was cereal, OJ and muffins, and there was a Mexican restaurant in the parking lot. The motel was in close proxmity to Texas A&M University, but there were several that were closer for a little more. That's what we decided to do.

I was appalled by the bathroom. Tiles in the bathtub were bulged and bugs were crawling all around the tiles. Water was ... leaking in the bath tub and was as the sink. Bath tub was disgusting, no way were we going to take a bath. Bugs in a room should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.

Quick tip

very scary place

Maribel Apr 6, 2008

I am a 48-year-old woman traveling alone and not only was disappointed but a little scared of the place. The rooms were ... below most standards. People were outside cooking. Strange men were hanging out their doors checking folks out. They first put me in an isolated room in the back where I had to pass through a three foot wide alley to get to the room. The room was in very poor shape and I felt like I had been ripped off. I asked for a better lit room in the front and they put me in a family area where I think people actually are living. This room was in much better shape but still in need of cosmetic help. I stayed only because it was non-refundable and the sheets seemed clean. The surfaces of the old table and the tub were worn. The sink apparently was painted at one time but is peeling and the mirror has lost its silver. There were holes in the carpets also. There were noticable patches in the walls and ceiling, around the doors and at some of the corners of the rooms. The towels are thin and small and feel like sandpaper.
