My friends and I went for a girls weekend shopping spree and packed a lot in for a 3 day trip. The only bad thing was the ... room was warm and the cleaning crew turned of the air conditioning every morning. If you leave a note to leave it on they will. The walk to Time Square was further than we thought so be aware and take good/comfortabel shoes. Other wise it was great!! We had a blast and great view of the city.

Get the City Pass or New York Pass (depending on what you want to see) the price is good compared to what you pay to see the attractions. Plan your days out so you'll know how long of a pass to get. Get a all day subway (train) pass is't only 8.50 for unlimited trips.

The hotel lobby was under construction. The check-in desk was too brightly lit. As I approached the desk to check-in, I was ... blinded by the lighting. Desk help was not friendly. Perhaps they were upset that they had to work the holiday! Hot water in the shower was an issue.

OASIS IN NYC
Appreciative traveler Nov 22, 2009
This was such a refreshing experience, from my warm chocolate chip cookie upon check-in to my serene room with comfortable ... bedding. I was in the middle of one of the busiest sections of NYC, but from my room I was not able to tell and I was so grateful. It was a location that was peaceful and convenient at the same time and that's rare and I was pleasantly surprised by the amenities.

Great location and would stay again
Dave/Tracy Nov 17, 2009
After arriving at at JFK we felt adventurous and decided to take the Airtrain and Subway (E)line as the hotel is located ... right beside 51st Street Lexington, I would recommend this to anyone, so easy and alot cheaper than the taxi's. Check is was very quick and we were upgraded to a King size room from a Queen at no extra cost (complemetry cookie on arrival). Reception currently being renovated but this has no impact on the rest of the hotel. Rooms are tidy with the bathroom a little on the small side but I did not go to New York to see a Bathroom. All in all a very good hotel with an excellent location and would definitely stay at the Doubletree again in the future.

Jules Oct 21, 2009
My husband and I planned a long weekend in New York. I had never been and had no idea where to stay. A friend reccommended ... this hotel and we were thrilled with every aspect of our stay. We are returning soon and bringing our children. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. We were walking distance to every sight we wanted to visit..ie..Central Park, Times Square, South Ferry. I highly reccommend this hotel!

Nice location..very bad customer service
Frequent traveler Oct 13, 2009
Even though my business partner and I made the same reservation, he was given a nice room, while I was given a "half room" ... that smells like a hospital, the sheets were really dirty with huge visible stains that screams "never washed", mold in the bathroom, and the window over looking the tens of AC units on the roof of the next building , so guess what you would hear all night?!....I requested a new room, and got it . When out and came back at 11PM, my room was like a freezer, and there was no heat !! At least someone was nice enough to send me two blankets, but I had to wait until the technician comes after midnight, to bring me a heater . To crown all this, none has apologized !! but rude people ¬ so much !

The room did not have towels. The price of eating breakfast in the hotel was out of sight. They had no evening dining ... room. Would not stay here again. There was a light bulb missing in the bathroom the entire time we were there. Hard to get makeup on when the lighting is so bad.

Stayed one night, had all I need, was upgraded to a really large room, and slept surprisingly well for Manhattan. There is a ... nice breakfast place directly in the building, next to the hotel entrance. Subway station is directly across the street.
