This Super 8 motel is very convenient for college students. It's not expensive, checking in and out is done in less than a ... minute. The staff are friendly. The room was clean and well air conditioned. It is good for after parties. Bunch of Mexican restaurants located near it, in addition to a liquor store. If i need to go to Austin again, definitely i will stay again in this motel.

Not a Good Place to Stay

The Super 8 - Austin (Downtown/University), Austin, Texas. First the front desk attendant couldn't check us in because it was ... too early even though I called before making the reservation if it would be a problem checking in at 1am. When we got to the room the sheets looked slept in, there were cigar burns, and blood stains on the sheets. We asked for clean sheets and we had to remove the old and put the clean sheets on the bed and they weren't the right size, housekeeping wasn't available. If you can afford it pay extra and stay elsewhere.

I can't say that I would recommend this location to families traveling. It was located next door to a bar and the others ... guests were a little disconcerting. What really made us upset was that we arrived at 11pm. We were given a room upon check in, tried to enter the room but the key card was not working. After my husband drove back to the office we discovered that someone was already in that room and were calling security because they thought we were breaking in. To add insult to injury, that sent us to another room that also had a guest. We did not get into a room until after midnight. It was a disaster. The room was ok.

The Super 8 Downtown was just fine for being a cheap place to stay within a 15 minute cab ride of downtown Austin. The rooms ... were plain, but clean and comfortable.

Only a Taxi Away from Sixth Street

I recommend the Super 8, Austin (Downtown/University), only to those who are looking for an economical place to crash after a ... night of partying. It is the best deal I've found in terms of both proximity to Sixth Street (a short taxi ride away) and price. However, it is a mediocre hotel. I have stayed there twice--the first time, my pillow stank; the second, the air conditioner did not cool. Overall, though, it is just fine for staging a night of partying downtown.

Pregame at the motel, then walk next door to the Mexican restaurant for supper. After dinner, split a $10 taxi ride with your buddies to Sixth Street and start partying.

It Stunk!

The Super 8 was not so great. My first expresion of the room was the odor. And it wasn't a good one. Second we didn't even ... have the comfort of using the restroom. They must of had some problems because the toilet was overflowing with clean water. But, when I called them they just said sorry if you want to send your husband for a plunger to see if he could unclog the problem. The problem was it wasn't clogged on our end. My husband turn the water off. We were there to celebrate my husband birthday and it was not fun. Next time I rather not save the money and go somewhere with comfort.
