Great Resort & Casino, If You're Hip
Bern Doggy Dec 8, 2009
My wife and I spent a long weekend at Planet Hollywood in December. We really enjoyed the hip atmosphere of the hotel. The ... room was very large and spacious as was the bathroom. We also enjoyed the 5th of Rum that the hotel provided for free, very yummy. The location is great. You're right on the strip and centrally located if you want to venture up and down the Las Vegas Blvd. The shopping is also fantastic at the Miracle MIle, attached to the hotel. The shops are not as expensive as the ones at Wynn or City Center and more geared to a younger crowd. Overall, we had a great vacation and plan on going back to Planet Hollywood.

Planet Hollywood Cas & Grey Line Shuttle
Dr. MAD Dec 8, 2009
My stay at Planet Hollywood Casino (PH) was an enjoyable experience. The casino was fun and the staff was very helpful and ... friendly. I was there on business and had a fun time as it was like a mini-vacation. This hotel was a renovation of the previous Aladdin Casino (which might explain some of the "problems" in the third paragraph.) A very positive note is that I was given a voucher for a free bottle of booze (1/5th of hard alcohol) and a $25 voucher to the buffet. I was not expecting this :) There are some things to know about staying here. First, they charge a "resort fee" that they do not advertise. Essentially, the resort fee requires you to purchase the bottled water and daily newspaper regardless of you actually using it. Even though it was $5.59/day, I really resent being forced into purchasing something that I do not want nor will I use. It seems cheap that a hotel potentially of great caliber will try to get money whenever it can. This was my primary "beef" with the hotel. They seem like they want to get money whenever they can when it would not be otherwise reasonable. e.g., they want $5 to print your boarding pass from the kiosk in the hotel lobby! The rooms where nice, but they still seem like they need to be fixed up slilghtly. e.g., there was no do not disturb sign available, the ice machines did not work on two floors, the tub had dust in it, the food that I ordered was cold in the middle (but still delicious), the vending machine was broken (again had to go to another floor for ice and soda), the rooms need more light, and the buffet food was somewhat bland (I guess you expect more when you pay $27.99 for the buffet.) The hotel is somewhat loud from all the nightclub music. If you are in to that sort of thing, then this might be the place for you. I felt that PH was really trying to attract the "young-hip" group (which I am probably not in that group nor ever have been :) ). I don't want to sound picky, but when you pay a lot for a hotel that touts excellence, you expect to receive nothing less than that. If I had the option to stay here again, I might if it was at a much cheaper rate. More than likely, I will stay at another casino upon my next visit in order to get a different and more complete experience for my $$$. You should know about travelling on the Grey Line Shuttle. PLEASE READ THIS! This organization is the most disorganized and non-customer service company that I have experienced in recent years. When you purchase a prepaid voucher, you have to wait in a line where a lady will ask you, after several minutes of waiting and not sure where you are to go, if you have a prepaid voucher. You will be then sent to the back of a line of an even larger group. The shuttles have no sequence to them and you never know when your's is coming. It took me TWO hours to get from the shuttle to my hotel. Ridiculous! On the day of my departure, the shuttle left without me at my hotel. To be completely fair, they told me to get there at 9:10am. I got there at about 9:11am only to see the shuttle leave without me. When I called the help number, they refused to turn around even though they were just minutes away from missing me! They said that they MIGHT give me a refund if I sent and explination to there refund department. I am sure that this will be even more of a headache. I ended up taking a cab with some other people and splitting the fare. For whatever reason, it only cost $11.30 altogether for the 3 of us to get from PH to the airport (no joke!) I have spent $25-30 before on cab fare. OK, my trip all-in-all was great. I only point out the "bad" things so that you may avoid them. Bottom line, never use Grey Line Shuttle and make sure you get a good deal if staying at PH. That's all for now :)

Great Location/Great Hotel
Giddy Gambler Dec 6, 2009
Planet Hollywood is located in the heart of "The Strip". The atmosphere is a bit funky, but not out of control. The staff ... was perfectly friendly (didn't smother you, but didn't ignore you either). I'm a clean-freak and I was very pleased with the cleanliness of our room. The bed was very comfy and they gave us different sized and firmness pillows (it was nice to use what you are most comfortable with). Not exactly kid friendly, but in my opinion, Vegas isn't really a place for kids anyway. Planet Hollywood also has the "spice market buffet". I'm not a buffet fan at all, but this was very clean and offered everything and anything you'd want. It was excellent. Planet Hollywood is located next to the Miracle Mile Mall, so if you didn't want to leave, you could do everything at the resort and check out the mall if you'd like. Next time we are going to Vegas, we will absolutely stay there again. Loved it!

The Planet Hollywood is a very new hotel, and was quite nice. The rooms were largs and clean, and the hotel was very ... attractive. It probably had the best casino on the strip as well. There were a few downsides however. There is a "resort fee" that surprised us. It wasn't that expensive, but a disappointing start to the trip. The worst part was that they are building two towers onto the hotel to be used as time shares. There were sales people everywhere trying to get you into a 90 min. presentation in exchange for show tickets. None of the other hotels had this. Good overall, but a few annoying quirks.

Overall we were pretty disappointed in Planet Hollywood in comparison to previous stays in Las Vegas at other hotels. ... First-we were supposed to get a free room upgrade as a part of our [...] booking. When we arrived and mentioned this to the rep at the front desk, she seemed annoyed or put-out by this. She then advised us that she didn't have any upgrade rooms available. Big disappointment! The walls are paper thin in this hotel and the room next to us had about 10 occupants who were extremely loud all day and all night. The shower was not very clean, the grout in the corners and floor of the shower stall is black from dirt. Overall the room was not very clean. Lastly, every time we put the do not disturb sign on our door - it was ignored by the cleaning staff. However, the location of the hotel is great, the casino is great and so are the restaurants, buffet and entertainment in this hotel. OK place to stay if you don't plan on spending much time in your room.

Great location, mediocre hotel
dstar Dec 1, 2009
The location of the hotel was great. Mid-strip with short walks to most of the other casinos. Nice looking people on the ... casino too was a plus. We saw Peepshow with Holly Madison, which is at the hotel, and it was pretty good. I give it a B+. Now let's get to the bad stuff... The timeshare solicitation on the hotel floor got out of hand. I expect more respect for a paying guest than to be bothered multiple times a day about the usual free show tickets in exchange for 90 min of your time (which I assume most of you know is to use very aggressive sales tactics to convince you to buy into their timeshare property). The slot machines had very bad payoffs, at least from my experience. I don't gamble much so I stay away from the tables, but I think they are probably a better deal since they can't be "tuned" for higher casino profits. Later I learned that the PH is struggling for cash, which makes a lot of sense now. The room was dusty, sign of a sloppy cleaning job. The closet door was broken and the bathroom granite was cracked, so it was far from being in mint condition. The noise levels were very high, it was very hard to sleep in the mornings, when it wasn't plumbing noises it was an alarm clock from a neighboring room that ran nonstop. The room service was bad. We tried to order something but after 1 hour waiting we gave up and canceled our order.

The hotel was great. We upgraded to the Premier package and I would not do that again. We did get to use the fitness ... center, but the social room they had set aside was nothing special and the "light snacks" were a few nuts (which I am allergic to) and some apples. The drinks were small water bottles (which you got in your room). The upgrade included Starbucks in the room, which wasn't stocked when we got there, and they never refilled the cream and sugar.

We arrived to the hotel early Saturday morning and knew that we couldn't get our rooms until 3. I had reserved a room on the ... fountain side of the strip and was allowed to pre-check in for one. When I came back at 3 to get my room and bags, I was told that my room wasn't ready, but the other couple that we traveled with, their room was. So then I was told that just because I pre-checked in, doesn't mean I get what I reserved. I was only guaranteed to get "A" room at 3, not my reserved room. I was instead placed in a room on the back side of the building. Besides that hang up in the beginning, the trip was overall nice. I enjoy the decor and atmosphere and HIGHLY recommend eating at "Koi" in PH.

Good shows in hotel and if you want to attend all the different types of shows in the area you can go in either direction. Their A-List benefits are nice but needs to be connected to other Casinos or something so you can build points at other locations.

They have an entire mall IN the hotel itself, so you'll have plenty of shopping. Most of the stores are high end, so hopefully you don't lose too much gambling!
