We decided to get a way for the weekend to see friends and enjoy. Just wanted to mention we know it is not the Hotel's fault, ... but the parking fees in Waikiki are expensive. The Hotel was nicely remodeled and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was so helpful and friendly.

The hotel was in a perfect location-walking distance to all the shops and restaurants on Waikiki Beach, they gave us a free ... upgrade without us asking (view of the beach and Diamond Head), the room was beautiful, the bathroom was very clean and had a great high pressure steaming hot shower, one of the walls was all glass made of floor to ceiling glass doors that opened up completely, as soon as you open them, the breeze from the beach fills the room, it was a wonderful experience! We waited until the last minute to book and got an awesome-unbelievable deal!

At this reasonable price, it should be one of the best hotels to stay in. It's quite comfortable to go to Waikiki beach area ... and easy to use the transportation to go everywhere. It's pretty close to the Ala Moana Center (if you like shopping), you can walk there. This hotel will be in my list next time!!

On a budget, it's a great bargain.

This hotel has been adequately written about by many others in the past. The hotel could clearly do with some renovations. ... The carpet, paint and furniture do show signs of wear. Surprisingly, the one thing that got to me was the loud fan noise from the AC unit. It would wake me up at night whenever it came on even after five days in the room. Location is great and the staff are very nice. You get a lot for your money. Pay twice as much and you can cross the street and stay at the Hawaiian Village. Then you get regal atmosphere, as well. Overall, it's a very reasonable place to stay for a very reasonable price.

Excellent Value
Patrick Oct 26, 2009
Great value - rooms were small but we weren't there much. King-size bed, bigger refrigerator than we expected, microwave, ... iron and board, hair drier, quiet rooms facing away from Ala Moana Blvd. We were told by people staying across the street at the plush Hilton Hawaiian Village that they did not have all that. A/C and Internet worked great - I didn't try the wi-fi since an Ethernet cable was available. I saw a lot of people using wi-fi in the lobby, though. NO PROBLEMS WITH THE ELEVATORS. Gym was small - one universal, two treadmills and an elliptical, but it got the job done. Very small pool, but it was never crowded the water was nice - spent most of the water time at the beach - walk through Hilton HV to get there. The Wailana Coffe House will save you a fortune at breakfast - the $5.75 all-you-can-eat pancakes is the best deal going - two eggs, two strips of bacon and three nice pancakes - more if you want them when finished with the first batch. Coconut syrup was great. Right next to the IHOP at about 60% of the price. Great spot if you're watching your budget. Many ABC stores (souvenirs, snacks, drinks) - seems like they are on every other block. If you can get out to the Flea market at Aloha Stadium (Sat., Sun, and Wed until 3pm) you will save BIG money on souvenir aloha shirts, towels, t-shirts, costume jewelry etc. I saw a specific Hawaiian shirt for $10.00 that was going for $14.99 and up in town. If I return to the Waikiki area, I would definitely go back to Aqua Palms.

Best hint you'll get anywhere - parking is expensive, but...if you have a rental car, come out of the hotel and go right on Ala Moana BLVD. Make a left at the Red Lobster (Hobron Ave.) and drive straight back about 2 blocks. There is a marina there - just follow the road around a couple more blocks to 25 CENT PER HOUR PARKING - NO KIDDING. There's a maximum of 24 hours at a time. Find a spot, note the spot number, go up to the machine and enter the information and pay. Put the printed ticket on your dash. You can't touch that deal.

Hotel had onsite parking for an additional $20, but don't take a fullsize car - it's tight. Hotel was close to resturants. ... IHOP was located in the building, and they offered a 10% discount, but still expensive and I'd prefer to have a complementary breakfast included.

Basically the staff are very friendly. But the check in time is forced to be 3pm. Also their computer system seems having ... bugs, we got a room where there had been people living, which made us go up and down 3 times when we were very exhausted. Also their key card always did not work when you came back from outside. We had to go to the lobby desk to enable our cards very often. Once we were at the garage gate and found our card not work, this put us in a very dangerous position because the slope to the gate is very abrupt and very short to slip into the main street.

the hotel is better online in its pictures then for real as I expected an higher class when classified as a boutique however, ... it is in a great location, with great staff near a better stretch of beach. the hotel is kind of easy to miss. when they said it was a block from the beach, i didn't know you had to cut through the ... hilton hawaiian village property to get there. it's not TOO far, but i just thought it'd be a lot closer. i went diving with aquazone for 3 days. they picked me up from the hotel each day and dropped me off as well. the staff was very nice, and checked in for me for my return flight and weighed my bags for me to make sure i was under the 50lb limit! if you're into shopping, then the hotel is in a centralized location for the ala moana center and all the high end shops on Kalakaua Ave, being about a 15 min walk from either. the hotel is not in the middle of touristy waikiki, thankfully. i heard hawaiian hotel rooms are not typically that large, which was true for my room. i had a diamond view room, which gave nice views of the mountains, the city, and a bit of the beach... all with a big column right in the middle of the glass doors. the doors opened up but the outdoor space was only about 12" deep - not meant as a balcony unfortunately.
Traveler type: Single
about 15-20 min walk to the ala moana shopping center which i'm told used to be the largest mall in the country! also, about a 10-min walk to all the high end shops on Kalakaua Ave. depending on where you're from, sales tax on clothes is pretty good in hawaii at 4-point something percent.

Fine for the Price
Paul Aug 19, 2009
We wanted to do Hawaii on a budget so this hotel was just fine for us. It was clean, nice flat screen T.V., small but nice ... pool which got lots of sun, friendly staff and short walk to the beach. It was away from the busiest part of Waikiki which we liked for the quiet and yet was only a short walk or bus ride to everything. Continental breakfast good, it was coffee and muffins but was the same every day which got a little old by the end. The room we had didn't have a balcony or any kind of a view from the room so it might be worth upgrading to get those. We would stay there agian.
