Hotel has been dramatically re-sculpted to incorporate large expanses. An avant garde choice of Washington DC area hotels. The Hotel George is the very first style conscious Capitol Hill hotel - bringing left wing design and right wing comfort together in perfect harmony. Originally built in 1928 the hotel has been refurbished with glass, stainless steel, and fossilized coral stone - all within a traditional facade. With splashes of neo modern contemporary design elements to enhance the public spaces and guest rooms this unique boutique hotel is further complimented by a signature collection of modern artwork. Bold design is a theme that permeates throughout the hotel. All guest rooms are steeped in a cool beige and cream color scheme that provides a residential feel to the interior. Our affiliate restaurant, Bistro Bis incorporates the same cunning craft for style. Located adjacent to the lobby, Bis offers creative classic French bistro fare in a profound contemporary setting.

Extremely pleased guest Oct 26, 2009
The staff was extrememly friendly and very eager to respond to any inquiry or need. The hotel room was furnished very ... nicely, was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. We requested a later check out time and they granted our request immediately. The Hotel location was perfect with direct access to Union Station to ride the metro, enjoy a meal or do some shopping. It is also in walking distance to the Capital, surrounding buildings and the Washington Mall. We were very pleased with everything and will stay at this hotel again.

Use the Metro Line subway system during your stay. The Union Station stop is very close by. We knew nothing about how to use such a system and became comfortable with it real soon. The Metro employees help you out in a friendly manor. It's fast, clean, and cheap"

Eat at the Union Station.Excellent value.
--Bert Sprockett, UK Jun 4, 2009
The dining at The George is excellent and convenient. Also, at Union Station, there are many places serving various foods, Two blocks the other way is Starbucks, which is a nice stop for a coffee, frappacino or similar. I imagine there are other places to dine, but with the above listed, I looked no further.

Just what we hoped it would be
mary Aug 14, 2009
First time staying overnight in D.C...came upon this stylish hotel online and hoped it was as nice as the photo. It was a ... great match for our needs.Probably not if your with little ones. It's location 2 blocks from Union Station & the Metro Line came in handy for getting around reasonably and quickly. You can eat at the fancy hotel restaurant or grab a meal in one of the nearby pubs. Staff full of sugestions! Room was a nice size, quiet, clean, the service was helpful and friendly. Would definately go back.

Great Hotel for anyone
Myrtle Annette Sep 8, 2008
From the moment I arrived at The George (a Kimpton Hotel, as you know), I was very impressed. The entire staff, from Bellman ... to Concierge, were very attentive and anxious to please. The room was wonderful, i.e., large with two queen beds, a lounge chair, ottoman, a desk w/chair, and a vast amount of closet and drawer space. Additionally, the large flat screen tv was behind the closet doors across the side of the room. I love the design of this space. The location of The George was perfect; three blocks from The Capitol, 1-1/2 blocks from Union Station, and there were ample taxis when needed. If I return to D.C., I hope a room is available. Kimpton Hotels have always had a good reputation; I highly recommend it to anyone, business, family, or just to get-away.

Good Location and Price
david May 11, 2008
What I liked most about this place was the fact that it was a short walk to the Union Station. Even with luggage going to ... and from the station was easy, and if the weather was bad the hotel room had an umbrella - so no problem! Getting to the Washington DC mall was easy too. The price was very good considering the location. I had an interior room which meant the only view was of the interior rooms on the other side, but that was not a problem for me. The clerk recommended an interior room because the exterior rooms were noisy. I have been in hotel rooms where street noise is a big problem so I took his recommendation and my room was very quiet.

The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is just less than a mile away. Of all the museums this is the one most attended and it gets crowded. Beat the crowd by leaving the hotel at 9:00 and walk there to be at the doors when they open at 10:00 AM. It is free to get inside.
