I was the co-captain of the Northwestern football team, honoring my late son's memorial scholarship. Everything went ... perfectly. This was the best trip to Evanston I had. I was very inpressed with the personal saying good morning, and people even on the street. Keep up the good work it was very refreshing.

If you rent a car, ask if it has a GPS, if not bring your own. You will get around Chicago so much easier. Also breakfast at the hotel was very good, but very pricey, but also that comes with good friendly people.

We booked a suite since that was available at a discounted price and unexpectedly became ill so had to stay in the room for ... four days. It was just like home with a living area and bedroom and two great TV's. The only down side is we must have been directly over a party hall that had a loud party going on until 2AM Sunday. And they need to invest in door systems that slow the doors down so they don't slam. Every time some went in the vending and ice machine room the door slammed and shook half the floor. It was really disturbing. The regular room doors also had a bad slam and every child that entered the hallways voice carried like they were inside your room. Hallway acoustics aren't good.

Great location and accomodations
JPP Aug 13, 2009
We loved staying in our junior suite for six days while we visited friends and family. It was an ideal location because our ... friends live in the northern suburbs and our kids live in the city - we were in the middle. Evanston is a great city - so many restaurants and things to do right within a couple of blocks. We were near the El and didn't need a car. The suite was big enough for us to relax without feeling closed in. We had WiFi in our rooms. The staff was helpful. The breakfast buffet was great, free coffee and tea all day, plus cookies!

There is a first class movie theater at the end of the block. See some movies while you're there.

We arrived after 10pm, and most of the restaurants were closed. We asked around and went to Clarke's, which was open 24 hours, with good food.

At check-in renovation in the lounge area was so loud that we had to shout to converse with the clerk. However, after than ... day the renovation work had progressed such that noise was not a problem. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding and all else was terrific. Also, only a block and a half to the El made easy travel to places of interest.

The hotel is on the edge of the downtown - close enough to be convenient to walk to everything but quiet and peaceful. The ... rooms are spotless; the staff is peasant and responsive. The business center was operating, but the printer was out, so I couldn't print my boarding pass. So the front desk staff did it without my asking. Nice.

The Hilton Garden in Evanston is like every other Hilton Garden on the planet. This is okay, because Evanston is a great ... place to be. The room was unremarkable, but there was plenty to do in the area and it was all within walking distance.

Close to Northwestern
Celeste Jun 14, 2007
The Evanston Hilton Garden is a perfect match for a visit to Northwestern. It is close to everything in Evanston. Shopping ... and restaurants are a few steps away from the front door. Visiting Northwestern's campus is easy when staying at this convenient location. Public transportation is within walking distance. This hotel is always my first choice when visiting the area.

A few good places to eat include Merle's for Texas barbeque style, Dave's Pizza Kitchen for Italian, Wolfgang Puck's Restaurant, and La Peep for breakfast. There are many shops for browsing too.
