Bad news , good news
Mark Oct 28, 2009
Upon arrival we were stunned by the elegance in the foyer and check-in areas. Then we got to the room and quickly became ... disappointed. BAD NEWS: Not only was the room "ordinary" and tiny, our view of a lovely New York brick wall was enough to ruin my whole trip before it started. The room did not have a dvd player and the cable tv service made me want to throw the remote out the window ( and into our beautiful brick wall across the way) Room service was ridiculously overpriced, and no pool or hot tub that I could find. GOOD NEWS: Location was about the only good thing to report. Times square was like 4 blocks away and all the theaters where within walking distance. The service staff were also OK...not GREAT, just OK. Don't take anything out of the mini bar, as soon as you remove it, you will be charged (sensors or something) I took a few things out to put personal items in and I got charged even though I didnt eat or drink the items. Save your money and stay somewhere else or spend just as much and stay somewhere with a view. Not worth the price of a room here folks!

If you are planning on seeing a Broadway theater show, purchase tickets before you arrive in New York. Most shows are sold out weeks in advance and day of ticket prices (if your lucky enough to get them) are the most expensive price no matter the seat or section.

I was travelling by myself this time-in New York City to see Broadway shows. The location was perfect! You are on 44th and ... can come and go right to the theater district and as for shopping - Fifth Avenue is right around the corner. The Hotel is lovely, quiet, well-appointed with a very professional staff. They have splurged on the bedding and you will definately get a great night's sleep...I will definately stay here again on my next New York Broadway adventure!

When we were checked in we got to our room only to see it was not the room we had been guaranteed or that we had prepaid for. ... We had to be moved the next day to our regular room and the stay was fine then. The thing that bothers me greatly was the young lady who checked us in said nothing about this "lack of available Premium King rooms" to us. We had to call to complain to the manager. Who said we would be moved tomorrow and offered us a comp breakfast. What bothers me , as I mentioned was not being told honestly up front which leads me to believe that had I said nothing they would not have either. So we are our approx.40.00 because of this snafu. [...] the manager was most helpful BUT What about the room I was "guaranteed and had paid for. What about Orbitz guarantee? I will not use orbitz again as a result.

Comfy Hotel
MM Jul 30, 2009
The Hotel is located in "Mid-Town" NYC. Perfect location as Time Square is a few blocks away as well as 5th ave for great ... shopping. The beds are very comfy as they are plush with down and the room is a great a size. We had arrived after a 9 hour flight from Rome and were well pleased by the accomodating staff (front desk, concierge, and bell men) and were able to sleep pleasantly. I would give this hotel five stars if they had a pool...however, they do have a gym area with treadmills, bikes, and elipticals.

The smiles at the front door only kept resonating throughout the room and lobby and the entire building...The room was cozy ... and comfy with attention to detail that made you wish this were home. The complimentary evian bottles by the nightstand to help wet the hangover hurties, the citrus scented candle and shampoos to inspire smiles and serenity, the slippers, the robe, the blowdryer and the tub and seperate shower...how many words do we get?;-) The best part is the bed. Cozy enough to knock you out like mama said, supportive enough to help you spring to life in the morning. kudos!

for the perfect nightcap, check out the blue bar in the lobby of the Algonquin hotel, just a few steps away and home to the famed Algonquin roundtable...And for the late night set to help turn night into day with a drink, walk down 44th just past 6th and stumble into jimmy's corner bar(not on the corner, but the pics on the wall will clue you in why its named)

Great hotel with fantastic location
Patricia May 31, 2009
I checked in several hours before check in time and was given a room with a terrible view that looked out into the backs of ... several buildings. I was disappointed and went back to lobby to see if I could get a room on a higher floor. I was told that I could but that I would have to wait until check in time. It was worth the wait. I got a room with a fantastic view. The hotel staff was very accomodating and all of them were very friendly and helpful.

Superb Location - Good Amenities
Running Mom May 29, 2009
It was our first time to New York and it was a 3 generation of "girls" trip. The oldest in their 60's and the youngest was ... 9. The hotel was clean and the concierge very helpful. The concierge was available for questions, made good suggestions for dining and tourist events (even if we didn't do some of them) and were very helpful in getting tickets to things like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tours. For us "rookie" New York tourists, we felt the location was fantastic as we like to walk and it was easy to walk to Fifth Avenue, Times Square, Broadway Shows & Rockefeller Center etc. The location also made it easy to get to buses and the subway. There was a "runner" in the group and easy to get to Central Park and get in a good run. The rooms were clean and well attended. We had a couple of problems at check in but believe it was because of the 3rd party booking and the hotel did their best to correct it (even though they probably were not at fault) There were 3 computers available - at no charge which made it easy to keep up with work and check on things while away. I have travelled all over the world and I would definately recommend this hotel because of it's location, cleanliness, & courteous and helpful staff. Probably not the least expensive stay in the city but we felt it was off-set by the location and time and money saved by being convenient to many area attractions.
Traveler type: Family
We found using the 2 or 3 day city bus tours to be invaluable. We did this the first day and it helped us get acquainted with the various neighborhoods and attractions. The tour guides gave great hints on shopping, dining and where to purchase same day discounted Broadway tickets. It helped us to plan the next couple of days of our trip. We believe it saved us time and money, especially if we had tried to take taxis to all those places.
