Nice hotel for a family trip
Dylan Aug 7, 2009
I stayed this hotel for the second time. Must say the hotel is not very special when it comes to the service or facilities ... compared with other hotels similarly rated but very nice ones for a family trip esp. you're having a trip with very young kids and hate the hustle bustle of New York. Conveniently located to the transit services and near to Holland Tunnel. Most of all, we could enjoy beautiful scenery of Manhattan at night just by walking less than 10 minutes from the hotel.

Great location if you want to be close to Manhattan and dont want to pay the Manhattan price. Located just a few minutes ... walk from the exchange station for Path trains. Felt safe walking at nights to the hotel. Has a goos shuttle service as well. They do not change sheets and towels everyday and they tell you that up front. It is done only once a week.

Perfectly serene
Superchick May 10, 2009
I am thinking of moving to NY because I work there a lot and I love the city. A friend suggested that I check out the up and ... coming Harborside district in Jersey City as an alternative to living in the five boroughs. In the end I was not disappointed. I commuted to midtown Manhattan daily and it took me forty minutes to an hour. This was fine because it gave me an opportunity to ease into the day. The hotel was perfect with everything I needed and more. The only thing that was missing was a broom. The shuttle or light rail gets you to the PATH within minutes and I didn't feel like I was missing anything not being in NYC.

Great Value!
Lilian Mar 24, 2009
This hotel was the best I have ever stayed so far. At the begining, I was kind of nervous about the super low price till I ... saw the skyline of Manhattan from my window! The room was clean and spacious. To my great suprise, it also had a nice little kitchen and all the cooking appliances. My trip was a really busy one and I did not even get the chance to experiense them, but I think for people who wants to live there for longer time and does not wanna dining out every day, this small kitchen would be ideal! To sum up, this place was fantastic and I would absolutely recommend it to other people.

My review of Candlewood Suites JERSEY CITY
Tiffany Oct 19, 2008
Our room at Candlewood was very comfortable and much larger than I had expected. Another pleasant surprise was the fact our ... room had a refrigerator, stove and microwave. We also had a nice view. One of the things I didn't like was the window didn't have blinds that could be shut. (The window treatments were more for decoration.) So this made the room brighter at night than I would have preferred. The Candlewood is located near 3 different types of transportation (PATH, Lightrail and the NY Waterway ferry), however, there is still a walk of a couple blocks but it wasn't that big of a deal to walk. All and all, my husband and I were very pleased with our stay and if we are ever in the area again, we would defintely return to the Candlewood Suites.

There was a mall that I saw on the way to the hotel but I didn't get a chance to go back to it. We only had a couple days and we spent most of it at New York City which is just a short ferry ride over the Hudson River.

Inconvenience abounds
Benjamin Oct 18, 2008
It was located facing a parking lot where a floodlight blazed into my window all night, and the curtains in my room were ... designed for decoration, not to cover the window and increase the comfortability of the room. I heard people dragging luggage and slamming car doors all morning (starting at 3 a.m., I figured, because of so many nearby airports). Then, at 5 a.m., a neighbor two suites down the hallway (NOT my immediate neighbor) turned on the television as loud as possible. I called the front desk to ask for them to solve this problem, but they didn't do anything. I walked down the hall and figured out which suite the noise was coming from, and banged on the door but nothing happened. I returned to my room, called the front desk to tell them the specific room number, but they didn't do anything. I called the room, but nobody picked up. Finally the front desk had me change rooms to sleep soundly, and let the person continue to run their television at maximum volume at 5 a.m.

Rhonda Apr 7, 2008
We went up primarily to visit NYC and this was a great alternative to staying in downtown Manhattan. The hotel was very close ... to the PATH (subway to NY) and the Ferry. The hotel itself was very accomodating with very clean comfortable rooms. They also had a stove and refrigerator which helped us to be flexible throughout the trip. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it to anybody.

Clean, comfortable and reasonable stay
Sumio Feb 17, 2008
Located somewhat in city's re-development area, the hotel is surrounded with new office buildings, a shopping mall and condo ... towers, some still under construction. Only one block walk to the Hudson river to enjoy lower Manhattan view from its board walk if weather permits. Unfortunately no coffee shops around open for Sunday morning breakfast. Twenty or so minutes walk on boardwalk will take you to the nearest Sturbucks. You can drive there but hard to find street parking. The hotel offers safe outdoor self free parking with your room key card access. We stayed in studio suite which provides a complete kitchenet well equiped even with electric stove, dishwasher and full size frige with auto ice maker. They also supplied cooking pots, plates and other utensils. Shower water temperature was not consistant and it required frequent adjustment. Fan coil unit was very noisy and so was the full size refrigerator. If you are too sensitive to noise, you may be woken up whole night. Only five minutes drive to Holland tunnel, very convenient to lower Manhattan, although Hotel is not too easy to find.

Jersey City has little enclaves for ethnic food. Try the Philippine Bread House along Newark Ave. for a taste of Philippine fare and baked goods, or the Fiesta Grill where you can pick two dishes from the buffet with rice and soup for a measly $3.75, unbeatable.
