If you're looking for a great place to stay in this part of town, check here FIRST. Completely overhauled this year, the ... rooms are modern, spacious, and comfortable. Service was excellent, facilities are meticulously maintained, and the location is great (two blocks away from Union Station). One caveat: valet parking is nearly essential and not cheap ($34/day for us); however, the valet staff is quite helpful. Don't count out the restaurant on premises: it is quite a find, especially in a city where many of the better restaurants are found inside hotels. The bar and cigar lounge is of particular note and is a welcome addition, most notably when the weather is less-than-friendly. Highly recommended.

We were traveling with friends to Washington DC to see the capitol and all the museums etc. We didn't want to rent a car and ... have to search for parkings in a busy big city center. So we decided to find a good deal on the hotel near the transportation center. And we found this nice deal. This hotel is just couple of blocks away from the Union Station. And it's really close, walking distance, to the National Mall, this famous national park in downtown Washington, D.C. It's almost all we needed. Quite a lot of dining opportunities around the hotel and inside. Complete the picture.

NICE HOTEL - ESPECIALLY FOR THE ORBITZ PRICE. VALET STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE AREA. THEY WERE SLOW TO ... BRING OUR CAR WHEN WE LEFT - GAVE THEM LOTS OF NOTICE, STILL HAD TO WAIT FOR 15 MINUTES WHEN WE GOT DOWN THERE. DISAPPOINTED IN THAT THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE ROOM SHOWING WHAT THE HOTEL OFFERED. RESTAURANT WAS VERY PRICY - NOT MUCH OPTION EXCEPT FOR A LITTLE DINER ACROSS THE STREET AND ORDERING IN PIZZA ONCE WE FOUND A SOURCE. BUT ALL IN ALL - VERY NICE PLACE

Unprofessional staff

Ann Aug 30, 2009

This hotel is very conveniently located. However, the staff is in disarray. There's a "cleaning crew shortage" on the day I ... checked-in; there's no available 2-double room at the time I got there and they put me (with my family) in a queen promising to move me when 2 double became available (which was my reservation). However, that didn't happen instead I was told that they couldn't move me because they've already checked me in a king and they can't afford to clean 2 rooms since they're short of cleaning staff. As a customer, i guess I'm not a priority even though there's an available room. And the manager wasn't much help either.

Great hotel, great price

palkon Aug 27, 2009

This hotel was outstanding. For a couple of friends going to DC for the weekend, Washington Court was ideal. It's only a ... few blocks from Union Station, so we just walked right over and saved money by not getting a cab. The restaurant in the hotel seemed a bit pricey, so we just ate and the bar & grille across the street. The one downfall to the hotel is that there is no pool. Overall, the hotel was great. No complaints at all!

Would recommend to a friend!

I'm a WWII frontline 83 year old vet. My 55 year old son and I spent a couple of days touring the D.C. sights. We both ... enjoyed the short visit tremendously. It was nice to be in a vicinity in which we felt safe and comfortable and was so handy to the military and historic memorials and sights.

Money savers tip, Short Walk

Take the Metro to get around. It's very user friendly and inexpensive.

--Teacher Traveler, Beachwood, NJ Oct 26, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

Billy Goat Tavern

Money savers tip, Short Walk

As an alternative to the Metro and cabs, catch the Circulator bus in front of the Postal Museum-great route all the way to Georgetown, $1 per ride or $3 all day.

--Media exec, Portland, OR Oct 20, 2009

Time savers tip

Cabs are expensive take the double decker bus for the evening tour of DC make sure you buy for 2 days it will save you the walking and you can get on and off at any time

--Joan Kenney, Sun City, California Sep 30, 2009

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

Double-decker bus tours around the city center. Cab be booked inside the Union Station.

--Alex, Tampa, FL Sep 7, 2009

Shopping tip, Short Walk

close to union station losts of shopping places to eat. great if you have kids and few places open 24 hours to light snacking.

Dining tip, Short Drive

Filamina is a tradtional italian restaurant in the Georgetown section. The service was great (and fast) the food was excellent and they have "mamma" making the fresh oasta by hand when you walk in.

--NR, NJ Aug 23, 2009

Money savers tip

On weekends, parking is free on the street, which is where we ended up. Just be sure to park with the hotel if you're staying a weekday or 2--it ends up being cheaper than feeding all those quarters to the hungry DC meters!

--Tiffany, Long Island, NY Aug 20, 2009

Time savers tip

Rent a bike!! It makes getting around a lot faster with less blisters.

--Happy In PC, Park City, Utah Aug 19, 2009

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

At Union Station, one can sign up for a bus tour of DC and get on and off the bus at each sight (buses run every 20 minutes). It's 2 and a half hours if you don't get off anywhere.

--Bill the Actuary, Wildwood, New Jersey Aug 18, 2009

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

Be sure to tour the Museums. All museums are free on the Mall. You can also go to Union station were you will find quick bites or dinner as well as shopping (clothes, Jewelry, shoes etc). The National Zoo was very nice but you will need to drive about 17 minutes from the Hotel.

--Jules, Brooklyn, NY Aug 18, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

CAPITAL CITY BREWERY RESTAURANT IS IN POSTAL MUSEUM AND ONLY 3 BLOCKS AWAY. ALSO MANY EATING ESTABLISHMENTS IN UNION STATION.

--TEACHER, LINCOLN, NEBRASKA Aug 11, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

There is a Starbucks and the "Billy Goat" across the street. Union station is also worth the walk and you can get most of the tours from there, too.

--Robin, Eastern CT Aug 11, 2009

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Drive

The National Arboretum is a great place to enjoy the magnificent of the nature, especially if you like the Bonsai. There is an awesome permanent exhibition there (3501 New York Avenue, NE Washington, DC 20002-1958)

--PiiXiieeS, Rochester Hills, MI Aug 9, 2009

Dining tip, Short Drive

I was disappopinted with the number one rated steak house in DC, "Prime Rib". It was OK, not that special, like other finests I've been to.

--NUKEU2, Jensen Beach, Fl. Aug 4, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

The Union Station has a couple of restaurants and is easy to find if you arrive here with no local knowledge, hungry, and don't care for taking a taxi somewhere further.

--tml, Helsinki, Finland Jul 5, 2009

Time savers tip, Short Walk

The Washington Court Hotel is within walking distance, 10 minutes, of the Capitol and Union Station. Starbucks is across the street and there are a number of restaurants very close to the hotel.

--Happy DC Traveler, Salem, OR Jul 5, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

Starbucks across the street and great burgers at Billy Goat, also across the street (as long as you don't mind small diner ambiance)
