Our room was located on the 12th floor. Very quite. Bed was king and extremely comfortable. Room was good size. We even ... had a kitchenette, including microwave and full frig. We didn't use it but it was nice knowing it was there incase we wanted it. Bathroom a bit small but good enough. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great location - across from Madison Square Garden and subway/train station. Very convenient. Highly recommend this hotel.

Use the subway. It's a fast and inexpensive way to get around town. 24 hour pass is only $8.50. We felt very comfortable - didn't feel unsafe ever.

Birthday Girl Oct 2, 2009
We went for a 5 day trip to celebrate my birthday and our 25th wedding anniversary. The desk staff were really ... helpful, particularly with a special restaurant recommendation and had booked us a great table within minutes. They made sure the restaurant staff knew that the dinner was for a special occasion .. so ensuring a fabulous evening. The room was a good size - we had a brilliant view. The corridors were all looking a bit dowdy and needed a bit of some freshening up. There is a fire station next door, on 31st street, so you could really hear them when the sirens went off - it didn't bother either of us, somehow it just added to the excitement of the trip. The hotel is seconds away from Madisson Square Gardens,5 mins to Empire State,15 mins to Times Square,5 mins to Brodaway and 10mins to 6th Avenue... Brilliant location. We are considering going to the same hotel again!

I imagine this would be a good hotel for families, as it has kitchenettes. It was clean. The bed was comfortable. It's in a ... noisy part of town near a police dispatch station. All facilities were adequate. Subway is steps away.

If you're a walker, it's equal distance (about 15 blocks) between Times Square and Greenwich Village. Subway is very convenient since it's right by Madison Square Garden and Penn Station.

MICKI H. TRAVEL GIRL Aug 12, 2009
the staff was excellent. the rooms are fairly run down, furniture worn, rooms not real clean, they could use a good ... clenaing. kitchen was filthy. We had to change rooms three times before we finally got what we had requested and paid for. had to request coffee maker, coffee, robes, . rooms not that well equiped. they NEVER wash the glasses or coffee mugs. just rince and drain on a towel. that's OK maybe once, but after 4 days of "rincing" i finally requested CLEAN water glasses and coffee cups. we were staying for 6 nights. the staff however did try their best to make things right.

for travelers by train (Amtrak) this is a very good location, basically across from Penn Station. Good public transport ... connections, close to a wide variety of touristy and shopping options. Nice size suites (considering that we didn't plan to spend much time in the room, and in fact didn't). Friendly staff. We've stayed here a number of times already, and we'll be back.

Terrific Hotel
Tom P Jun 29, 2009
This was my first time at this hotel...It will NOT be my last. Just a great place. I tried it, as I found a terrific deal on ... Orbitz. The room was very large by NYC standards, and even had a full kitchen! The bathroom was small, but very nice and they provided Aveda toiletries, always a plus for me. Very comfortable bed. And the location was great. A wonderful deli is right next door with an amazing salad bar, you are 4 blocks from Whole Foods and also a local organic market, there was a great burger place just a block or so away, and also a CVS within a couple of blocks. I highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Affinia Manhattan for my husbands first trip to NY. The hotel was conveniently located directly across the ... street from Madison Square Garden and approximately a block away from Penn Station. There was easy subway access within 2 blocks of the hotel. Our room was clean and large (especially for NYC). It had a small kitchenette with a full sized fridge and microwave. There was a table and chairs located in the main room as well. The bathroom was small but clean. The tub/shower could use some updating but the water pressure was good. The room also had excellent closet space (3 total). The hotel offers a pillow menu as well. We tried the hypoallergenic, swedish memory foam, and this magnetic pillow. Aside from the swedish memory foam which I don't recommend, the rest of the pillows seemed rather similar. The service at the hotel was good. They were able to call down to the garage below the building and have our car pulled up front for our departure. Beware that it is rather pricey to park, but this is New York after all. Overall, I would highly recommend the Affinia for the price that I paid ($125/night).

The Staff was friendly and efficient but the room needed help. The window shades would not come down, the bathroom was very ... small and one had to keep calling and requesting coffee, sugar, a dish towel and other things for the kitchen.

There is a city bus that goes from Fifth Avenue to Penn Station so one can quicky and cheaply travel to the hotel (Q32). Dunkin Donuts is on the side of the hotel which makes it convenient to have breakfast in the room with others.

Affinia Manhattan Review
Imani Jun 18, 2009
The hotel was pretty much true to its description. The only thing that bothererd me was the smells in the hallway and the ... carpet. The outside of the hotel looked really nice but when we actually got inside it smelled like old milk and the carpets were very old in the hallways. I also did not like the business center located at the hotel as it was run by a separate company so the hotel attendants could not help me when I encountered a problem with my money at a computer terminal which resulted in a loss of money to me.

I stayed at the Affinia for a two day business trip. I'd definitely go back (if I got the same rate). Good size room. Nice ... workspace. Good location. Clean, but dated. It was a little noisy and a bit dark, but hey, it's NY. tip: be patient. The front desk takes 2 minutes to pick up the phone.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. This is not a new hotel, but the rooms are comfortable and large. We had two queen ... beds, two full baths, two televisions, a kitchenette, and a pull-out couch. NYC is noisy, but staying here was quieter than the Times Square area. We never felt a bit threatened, even when walking at night.
