A good place to stay
Paul Aug 15, 2009
Well located, if a bit too far east. The staff was helpful and friendly and the room was very large for NYC and clean. It ... would have been nice if the internet were free (but it was not). Kitchen was adaquate, but the microwave was not cleaned well before we arrived. In general Afinia Hotels are good, if a bit expensive. We were able to get this on sale, which made it a very good buy for the money.

Great Price, Great Location!
E.W. Aug 9, 2009
This hotel was great for my family vacation! Everything was clean, the room had ample space, and the only thing I didn't ... like about the whole thing was that our TV remote didn't work. It was within walking distance to everywhere we wanted to go (Times Square, Broadway, etc.). We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to the Manhattan area!

Pretty good for the money
Merctravs Jul 21, 2009
Enjoyed the large room and kitchenette and quiet area. Walked to the U.N., Times Square, Herald Square. Grand Central is four ... blocks away. Some of the staff weren't friendly. There was no safe big enough for a laptop, so they offered to put it in a luggage closet. However, only the bellman could tag it and put it in the closet. Waited 10 minutes one morning for this simple chore that any staff should be able to do. No ice machine. The bellman had to bring it.

Great customer service
Rocky Jul 19, 2009
The hotel was clean ,staff very helpful, we booked hotel airline and shuttle via Orbits ,it wasn't a bad experience at all, ... however i suggest to Orbits to remove the super shuttle service from their website, because their customer service is terrible ,our vacation was about to be a nightmare ,the shuttle driver kept one of our bags with him and it took them about 3 days to return our bag back, we had to call and talk to their supervisor like 5 times a day and they were so rude not helpful at all, i will never chose super shuttle again, but the hotel was great and their customer service was great ,the manager helped us to get our bag back, within a walking distance we were in central park ,nice restaurants, time square , we had a good time , pls orbits remove super shuttle from your website. thks

Hidden Gem. Great Value.
Amber Kaye Jul 13, 2009
My trip started on Friday July 10th 2009 and ended on Sunday July 12th 2009. I chose the Eastgate Tower Hotel because of its ... bargain pricing and its close proximity to Times Square and Grand Central Station. After an 8 hour drive, my fiance and I were extremely ready to get our room keys and hit Times Square. Upon arrival, we were graciously greeted by a Doorman outside of the hotel and we walked inside to the front desk. The staff was super friendly and patient right from the start. We got checked in very quicky and went straight up to our room. When we opened the door, we immediatly concluded that we had definately gotten a good deal. The room was very clean and stocked with extras like a pot for cooking and enough dishes and silverware for a family of four. The bed was comfy and there was an extra pillow in the closet. The room got a little cold as the night went on and the sheets were very thin, but I'm sure if we had asked they would have brought us more blankets. The bathroom was fairly small but served its purpose well. We never had to ask for extra towels as there were plenty to start with. When we checked out on Sunday, we were kindly taken care of. The hotel's parking fee was also a bargain considering the parking prices elsewhere. I'd definately stay here again and recommend it to friends and family.

First trip to New York for my husband and I and we found this gem of a hotel through orbitz.com. So happy we did. First time ... in NY, I think this was the perfect hotel to start off with. I especially loved the friendly staff. They were top-notch folks who jumped right in to help with whatever we needed. And didn't seem to care if we tipped them or not. Thank you for making our time there relaxing and easy!!!

Right down the street from our hotel were quite a few nice dining places. Every place we ate, I was pleasantly surprised at the yummy food!!! Is everyone in NY a good chef? LOL. Or we just got lucky and found the best places to eat. And the varieties of cultural restaurants were vast. Mexican, Japanese, Thai, French, etc.

Friendly check-in, free upgrade. HUGE. Just needed one Queen bed but was given, 1 bedroom suite with 2 Queen beds, two ... bathrooms, two televisions, living room with open floor plan to dining room and small kitchen. Beds were comfortable and clean. Furniture and style looked early 80's, given that, it was kept in good repair just normal wear and tear. Nice location 5 minute walk east from Grand Central. Very convenient for business. Neighborhood had supermarkets and restaurants and was safe. Would recommend to anyone that needed a place to stay at a low price.

Time to renovate
Jo Ann Oct 12, 2008
The Eastgate Tower would be an even lovelier property, if it were renovated. It's in a decent, quiet location, with a great ... circular drive (rare in busy NYC) but for what they're charging, if they don't renovate soon, its rates could be viewed as abusive

Large room
Wendy Jun 23, 2008
The Eastgate tower hotel was an average hotel in terms of service and amenities - nothing special. The room we had was a ... good size with a full kitchen (oven, microwave, sink as well as plates, wine glasses etc.). Plenty of space to pack our clothes. The location is a long distance from anything a tourist would want to do or see with hardly any sit down restaurants around. I wanted a studio room with 2 beds, which I was told we could get on arrival, but this did not happen, instead I got an extremely uncomfortable roll away bed!

Our room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed having a kitchen and utilized both the coffee maker and ... refrigerator. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel is located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. Our only criticism is at night there were no local cafes or restaurant options for a cup of coffee or dessert.

Excellent Hotel in Great Location
Abbas Apr 29, 2008
The Eastgate Tower Hotel is located within a 10 minute walk to Grand Central Station. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle ... yet conveniently located near plenty of cafes and diners. The hotel itself is clean and easy to get to from JFK. The rooms are very spacious with a kitchen and dining area. We had 2 queen sized beds and a sofa bed in the room we were staying in. We had the main bathroom and a separate WC...very convenient in the mornings when 4 people are staying in one room! Overall a great place to stay and at a good price for NYC. I would definitely stay here again and without doubt would recommend it to friends and family.
