The Lotus Thai-Vietamese restaurant right next door. Good food. On a cold and rainy night, the Pho Bo hit the spot.

Had a great time using this hotel as a base to explore old town, and downtown Sacramento. You can literally see old town ... from hotel. We were allowed to check in 2 hours early, and our room was of modest size for price. Would definitly recommend to people wanting to stay in sacramento.

Hotel was very nice clean rooms, breakfast was good, and staff were friendly. We had a incident with a broken toilet seat ... pinching my daughter who is not heavy. The toilet overflowed in the 2nd room but cleaned up very quickly and the room was returned to it original state. We did enjoy the location being so close to Old Sac and would consider staying there again. We ate 1 breakfast at the hotel and 1 at the Dennys next door both were good.

Good Hotel Near Old Sac, River,Dtwn Mall
Relaxing Mama Aug 2, 2009
My family and I visited Sacramento for a short get-away. I booked the rooms online for a great rate. The hotel was near the ... major freeways in the area and steps away (actually a parking lot) from historic Old Sacramento, Train Museum and the River, making it very easy to travel throughout Sac. The hotel was ideal in many ways because it was very safe (a concern for me travelling without my husband), clean (in and out of rooms)and welcoming(staff and other guests were friendly). We stayed through the weekend and probably lived by the pool and jacuzzi each evening although others were busily in and out of the hotel often as we had done. I loved having internet access with a printer so I could map our days adventures. Guests were families as well as singles and couples, and everyone seemed content with the hotel and the other guests. Three things kept me from making this review 5 stars: not enough fruit in the complimentary (thanks) continental breakfast, waiting for swim towels that we, along with others, had to request maybe it was conservation but it counts, and that we had to keep a parking pass in the window of our car indicating that we were hotels guests but it also listed our length of stay. Otherwise, a fun, great, super time was had knowing that we had such a great, safe hotel to go to each night. Good for what it was. I'd return to stay at this hotel.

There is Denny's next door, a host of restaurants and bars within minutes, as well as candy, ice cream, liquor and souevenir shops near the hotel. We walked to eat dinner late in the evening and still felt safe. Families with small children should bring the usual snacks because I didn't see the usual grocery store/market near here. Short distance to mall if you like familiar chain restaurants as an option.

We loved the location! We had planned a week-end visiting Old Town Sacramento. We were so close and amazingly did not get ... noise from Freeway. Kids enjoyed the pool and spa and especially the complimentary breakfast. The Breakfast room was large and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again. My sister and her husband enjoyed the stay and had plenty of room even with the two kids!

We did drive to Old Town, only because of my husband's limited mobility. We dined at EAT Joe's had quite a wait there, but well worth it. Baseball field does fireworks after the game and it was beautiful on the patio dining overlooking the Sacramento river and the "I" Street bridge lit up.

I really liked my stay, customer service was good, internet is very slow, the location is great, very clean and comfortable, ... however, if sleep is very important to you and you're a light sleeper then I would request a room that is not near Denny's restaurant, next time I plan on staying I would request a room on the opposite side of Denny's because of the 3am delivery truck that was so noisy for about an hour, and you can only request this when you arrive for check-in, you can not make any special requests over phone. Otherwise my stay was great!!! I would stay here again. There is an inside door that joins to the two rooms that we stayed in, which was convenient for the kids and us.

The Vagabond Inn in Sacramento was very comfortable and family friendly in a location that was perfect for us. It is close ... The Vagabond old town executive Inn is the the perfect place to stay to visit old town Sacramento and the beautiful State ... capitol building. There are numerous meuseums, and educational points of interest as well as an old time paddle wheeler river boat tour, carriage rides and a steam train ride. There is also the capitol mall near by. A days worth of attractions within walking distance. Unique and fun places to eat: an old fire station that is a restaraunt, A river boat that is a motel and dinner theater, Eat drink and meet Mary a bar and grill, candy shops, crafters, something for everyone.. The Vagabond has a nice pool and hot tub. clean and well maintained. The room was large, beds comfortable, the bathroom was tiny but clean. They have a breakfast buffet with fresh fruit, yogurt, rolls, cereal and Make it your self hot from the griddle light fluffy waffles. The hotel was a bargain for the price we paid. We would stay there again.
