Good price for excellence
jazzykris Nov 9, 2009
We were looking for cleanliness, quiet, good shower, and comfortable bed. We were not disappointed! Also, very nice ... continental breakfast. It was close to the mall for shopping the next day. Didn't hear any traffic noise. The bathroom sparkled with cleanliness and the mattress had a pillow top. Front desk was very helpful, too.

Reasonable stay
Sleepy Traveler Oct 14, 2009
Wasn't bad overall. I understand the no smoking policy but there could be a reasonably comfortable area for us smokers ... outside, or an area at all. Also some traction around the pool when they get around to updating carpets etc would be nice; I was scared my children were going to slip while walking in the general spa area. Pretty good deal for the price anyhow.

There are several restaurants within a block or two of the hotel. Fast food is a short drive south on a road with minimal traffic (compared to the rest of the SEA-TAC areas)

Snafoo at check-in
Traveling dad Sep 14, 2009
When we tried to check in there was no confirmation number at the desk or on my paperwork. The desk clerk had to make calls ... to even find my reservation. We requested a room with 1 king bed and had to settle for a room with 2 queens. Not that big of deal and the price was the same but not what we ordered. This is a completely non-smoking motel and I am a smoker but agreed to not smoke as am trying to quit and for my fiancee's health and comfort, the motel made me sign an agreement to pay a $350.00 cleaning fee if I smoked in the room (which I did not do). Now I am waiting to see if I get billed anyway based on the fact that I simply smell like smoke. Also was told there were two bottles of water in the room and we would be charged $1.50 ea if we drank them. There was no water in the room and that was not a problem after reporting this to the desk..however the water from the tap in the room was so bad we had to buy our own water to drink during our stay. On a much better note, after the initial snafoo at the desk we found the staff very friendly and helpful.

Affordable, Clean, A fine night's stay
Jess Jul 2, 2009
My friend and I were in Tacoma for the night, and just wanted a cheap, safe place to stay. Shilo was great for that. The ... room was a great size, and clean--all the wonderful amenities like shampoos, fridge, microwave, breakfast (more than just continental), pool and hottub, free cookies at the front desk. It wasn't fancy, the room was nothing to remember, but again--cheap and safe, clean and fully stocked, right off of I-5.

Business Friendly somewhat

The hotel FAX machine failed and I could not understand why the manager just did not run down to Office Depot and get one for ... $100 and solve the problem. Several hotel guests were trying to send and receive FAXes. It was still down the next day and I don't know if my FAXes were ever sent. They really need to add a stationary bike to there fitness room and it would be a good workout area, small but adequate.

For the price, the room was just a room. Nothing more. The front desk staff were very rude. There was trash on the outside of ... the hotel that remained there for our stay of 2 days. The location was the only plus for us. Not worth the money.

I would not stay at this hotel and would not recommend it to a friend. It was a strange hotel. It is one of the few hotels ... that still has an actual key verses an electronic key card. There were little things that were strange (i.e. the ironing board didn't have a cover on it), but overall just a very strange and unpleasant feeling. The bed was also extremely uncomfortable.
