Bad News Hotel
Harriett Sep 24, 2009
When I made reservations for this trip on line, I looked at the beautiful picture of the hotel lobby and I was convinced that ... it was a beautiful, first class hotel. Boy was I wrong! After arriving, when I went into the lobby, their was an "old hotel" odor. When we went to our room, the carpet was extremely dirty and the wallpaper was nasty and peeling in some places. The website mentioned the fact that it had recently been rennovated, so I thought that the carpet would be clean/new and the walls painted and clean. The room looked like I was in the getto. I immediately called the front desk and requested another room because I did not feel comfortable in the one that we were in. The clerk was very nice, and immediately brought another key up to our room. When we changed rooms, the second room looked almost as bad as the first room. After speaking to another clerk and voicing our disfatisfaction, she gave us a key to her best room. Guess what? That room wasn't much better. We came to the conclusion that the whole hotel was dirty. This hotel cost more than most hotels, so I thought that it was going to be worth the extra money, but I was wrong. I wanted to check into another total, but I was told that since I got the package deal, I would probably not be able to get a refund to go to another hotel. I wanted to check out of the Radisson Hotel and go to the clean looking Holiday Inn Hotel which was next door. The statement on the back of the hotel brochure stated "Our goal at Radison is 100% guest satisfaction. If you are not satisfied with something, please let us know and we'll make it right or you won't pay." They did not make it right, and I paid. Another complaint was the fact that we had to park quite a distance from the hotel door and we had to go outside in the rain to access the hotel from the garage. There was no inside entrance from the garage to the hotel. The garage was dark and we felt unsafe. The security office in the garage was very dark and closed. The phone in the security office remained off the hook the entire time that we were there. We could have gotten mugged and no one would even notice. We also tried to push the emergency button outside of the elevator because we didn't know how to access the hotel from the elevator, but the button was broken. The best part of our hotel trip were the clerks. Each clerk was very nice, kind, and accommodating. We will never again stay at the Radisson Hotel in Mobile, Alabama. We were there for my father's funeral, so the stay at the hotel only added stress to an already stressful situation. Harriett Rucker, Virginia Beach, Virginia

It was a wonderful experience. It was very quiet. It had that old school feel. I believe that hotel has plenty of history in ... it. It was in a great location. You were only minutes away from anything that you wanted to do.

Shhhhh....do not disturb
Husband & Wife Jul 20, 2009
With most places there will be small quirks however we truly enjoyed our stay and will return at some point in the future due ... to location and attractions. Our king bed was not a sleep number however it was quite comfortable with two large pillows and 3 smaller down pillows; desk was perfect for me in the evening and as I worked I could check out the Mobile night lights. It is an older hotel however it has lots of character / attitude. Absolutely love the original elevator doors. There is no short supply of hot water. I encountered one issue and my husband another. On our door I had placed a "Shhhh...Do Not Distub" outside the door. However one morning close to noontime I stepped out of the shower to find housekeeping in the room and she asked if I wanted the room cleaned. Directed her to the door to show her what was there, she apologized in her language. I contacted the front desk and they were very apologetic and it would be taken care of. I did not want her to get into trouble / fired but I felt they should be aware as if I had still been sleeping.... My husbands issue was the first night...hot tub temperature was perfect. 2nd time it was borderline scalding and 3rd time was lukewarm...he contacted maintenance when it was too hot.

This is a great place to stay in Mobile if you have work to do downtown. A great value for nicely appointed rooms with a ... great bed. The LCD TV was a nice surprise. No complaints, especially for the price. The hotel's dining options are a little limited, but that's not why you stay here.

Everything first-rate
Jan Sep 30, 2007
The room was comfortable; the sleep-number bed and duvet were great. I slept like a baby and felt fabulous in the morning. ... Breakfast was included in our deal and we loved the chance to just chill on a weekend morning with attentive staff, fine coffee, and great omelets. We had a view from our upper-floor room that included a bit of Mobile Bay and downtown. This is a nicely renovated old hotel with character and style. Parking was very reasonably priced at $6 and was as convenient as could be. The staff was courteous and professional and not without southern hospitality and charm. Don't miss the giftshop; it's much more than you'd expect. Everything about this stay was first-rate.

A great stop over!
Welborn Sep 28, 2007
The hotel was a great value. Our Champaign was delivered when requested. Our room was in a private corner of the hotel. A ... credit (up to $30) was given back to our bill for breakfast. A must have is the Shrimp & Grits! Any time a stay over is warranted in Mobile, and a trip to Felixs Fish Camp is a great reason, this hotel will be our retreat.
