Great location for a great price
Terie Mac Sep 25, 2009
Our Visit was to San Francisco consisted of the King Tut Exhibit, cable car ride to Fisherman's Wharf and the Orpheum Theatre ... show "Wicked". We had an absolutely wonderful time. While the Marine Memorial Hotel was alittle outdated, the staff were very helpful and helped us with directions and information about the activities in the city. The breakfast buffet was not the typical continental breakfast much more - fresh fruit, scrabbled eggs, potatoes and corn beef hash. My husband and I are Army Veterans so it our visit special. We would recommend this hotel and plan to come back when we visit San Francisco.

Great stay right in downtown SF!!!
WorldTraveler Sep 15, 2009
You can not beat theprice and location of the Marine's Memorial Club in downtown SF. It is a 3 minute walk to Union Square ... and within reasonable walking distance to the Civic Center, Chinatown, North Beach and the Embarcadero. The price and services provided are excellent. The complimentary full buffet breakfast is outstanding. The wait staff was very attentive and made my wife and I feel very welcome. Speaking of complimentary... 2 words- HAPPY HOUR. From 4-6 there is a complimentary happy hour in their restaurant on the 12th floor. The restaurant has sweeping views of the city... the bay, angel island, and the Golden Gate bridge are just a few of the sights to behold from this fabulous steakhouse. I highly recommend the Ribeye, after the tuna tartare appetizer. As for the rooms, they were spotless and well-appointed. One does not expect to have much space in downtown San Francisco, yet the rooms efficiently use the space. Also, in buildings as old as this A/C is not generally a feature however here they have those nice new ductless a/cs in the rooms that make it very pleasant on those 6 days a year it is warm in SF. Most importantly the MMC is a non-profit organiztion that does amazing work for the troops serving in America's Armed Forces. They have a volunteer staff that attends to the activities of the club, not to mention a full-time staff that is as dedicated to the job as they are the cause. The Memorial Wall for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom are both moving and sobering. Despite how great the aspects of this hotel are when considered in the hospitality light, the living museum they have created makes staying at this hotel an experience all its own.

We enjoyed a fabulous dinner at the Leatherneck Steakhouse, located on the top floor. The service was great and the food was delicious. Very "classic" style steakhouse. Try the tater tots!

Wonderful Stay at the Marines' Memorial
JC Aug 7, 2009
When we arrived at the hotel we were instantly impressed by the lobby and all the military artifacts displayed. The front ... desk staff welcomed us right away and the bell staff were very helpful. Our room was a great size, and the furnishings were very warm and comfortable. The fitness center was great, and the business center was quite convienent (since we still don't have a laptop). We had a wonderful time exploring the city the first evening. The hotel is walking distance to Union Square (great shopping & restaurants). The next morning when we went to breakfast we were so impressed with the breakfast buffet. They have everything - eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, cereal, pancakes - and it was delicious. And the wait staff were so friendly and so attentive. We did some more sightseeing and made it back in time for happy hour. This was the most fun we've had at a bar in a long time. The bartender was quite a character, and just so wonderful! All in all we were so happy to have found this place to stay. We'll be back again, and would reccommend it to anyone heading to San Francisco.

Great Value
George Jun 21, 2007
The Marine Memorial Club and Hotel is a great deal. It is conveniently located near the Curran Theater, Market Street Mall, ... Union Square, China Town and the streetcar. Dinners were excellent and quite reasonable for San Francisco. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Service was absolutely outstanding. Everyone treated you like a VIP. Parking was in a parking garage on the same street. Cost was 22.50/24 hrs in addition to room rate. We just parked our car when we arrived and didn't need it again until we left. Will definitely stay here whenever we go to San Francisco. It is an older establishment (1946) so if you are looking for all the bells and whistles of a 5 Star Resort, this isn't it. But, if you are looking for a great value for your money, this is it!
