We stay a lot here becaue it's near family. The only complaint is the loud furnace in the old part. Otherwise, the staff is ... great.

The location was very convenient to Berkeley and the Freeway. The room service was great! There is a nice walking path right ... on the Bay. We saw a protected owl nesting there. It was very quiet and relaxing.

Nice room, but noisy
hotel super Oct 20, 2009
The hotel was pleasant but very loud, there was a lot of door slamming and loud talking going on during my stay. also the ... food for the price was not good. for a 30$ per person breakfast i would of expected a better quality but the hash browns taste like it was fried in old grease and the omelet was not the best either.

It was very spacious and enjoyable. Esp. Right by the marina. Head out to the Berkeley Pier and get a nice walk with a ... wonderful view of the bay. All bridges are visible at the end of the pier. Had a great time. And service was very on point.

Location and Sweet Dreams beds!
Well rested traveler Sep 28, 2009
we celebrated a nephew's marriage with family in Albany, CA. We enjoyed the newly refurbished room in building #1..and ... the "sweet dreams" beds with lots of pillows! Loved the decor, although the room was a bit small. The bathroom needs a new tub and more hooks and towel bars, since it has all new other stuff. Lacks bathroom counter space, too. Loved swimming in the pool and using the jacuzzi which are open until 11 PM. Also, Wolfgang coffee in the rooms and Starbucks in the lobby..both nice to wake up too. Oh, and don't forget the chocolate chip cookies on check in! Fireplace in the lounge pretty nice too.

Having booked the hotel through Orbitz you said that pets were OK but did not provide a check box to get a quote to include ... my dog. I arrived at the hotel told them that i had a dog they informed me that there would be a 75.00 no return pet deposit and if i where to have booked straight through them an all enclusive pet room booking would have been 154.00 by booking with you the total cost of the room was 210.00 not happy with Orbitz. Hotel was great.

It has good and bad qualities
Happy to be Home Aug 9, 2009
Hotel is hard to find. The signage getting to and from anywhere was very bad. We (at first) were not given the room with a ... view as requested. They did accomodate after requesting at front desk. The room and view was quite good. We had a reported leak in the toilet unrepaired for a week. We just kept a towel against the wall all week. Hotel was out of regular coffee for your room.

An "allright" hotel
rs Jul 13, 2009
We were staying over to visit friends and relatives while driving through from Eureka to Los Angeles. The room was clean, ... and quiet, but a very long distance from the front desk, but once in the room, that doesn't really matter, except when we returned at night, our keys did not work, so we had to walk the length of 3 buildings and back to get that fixed. My other complaint is the layout of the bathroom is very uncomfortable, and not practical. We stayed for 2 nights, and for some reason the staff did not straighten and restock our room for the second day??? All in all it was ok, but not fantastic.

Lovely Spot
Teri Jun 25, 2009
I was going to a dance in Berkeley and wanted the convenience of not having to make the long drive home. I was very pleased ... with the peaceful atmosphere of the nearby marina and lovely views across the bay to San Francisco. Also nearby was open space with walking trails and gradual hills where families enjoyed themselves flying their kites. The hotel had 2 pools on site, a "Kid Pool" geared for families, as well as a separate Adults pool area which was a real treasure !

Robert Oct 12, 2008
The desk people were very friendly and helpful. The waitresses could use training; we waited five minutes to get waited on ... and I had to ask for water twice. I don't want fawning service but attentiveness is expected. The food was OK. The room was nice.

Perfect week
Mary Bernice Sep 19, 2008
My husband and I recently stayed at this property for a full week. We are in CA frequently to visit family and grandchildren ... and found this to be the best place to stay. We were upgraded at checkin. A nice surprise! The staff was friendly and helpful; the restaurant a bit pricey for breakfast but the food and service were very good. We hope that they do not raise their rates as we would definitely stay there again when we return in Dec.

Not so much...
Shannon Sep 8, 2008
We got checked in during peak check in hours. Felt rushed, got into a room that had not yet been cleaned. Back to the front ... to be placed into yet another double room. The staff was great and polite and was the best aspect of this hotel. This property is several miles from downtown Berkeley, so you need to take a cab or the hotel's free shuttle, for which we spent endless time waiting. If you want to be able to walk everywhere, this is NOT the place for you.
