Although there was no concierge the staff was very helpful. The room floor had grit and sticky stuff on it but was taken ... care of immediately when staff was notified. The location was excellent as far as being close to all the Time Square/Broadway action but without the noise and bright lights that could keep you up all night. Price reasonable for location. The rooms were very spacious.

Great location; comfortable room
mom Jun 11, 2009
This hotel was perfect for us: mom and son on a senior year trip. We had a one bedroom room, but the sofa bed in the living ... room made it a virtual two-bedroom. The little kitchen was great. We could have a quick breakfast in the morning before we set out on our adventures which included visits to MOMA, the Met, Natural History Museum, strolls through central park and along fifth avenue - all within walking distance. We got the week long all-you-can ride metro pass and it was easy to get to the Battery, Chinatown, SoHo, etc. The hotel is not fancy. But the rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, there were plenty of towels, the location is great (we could easily stop back at the hotel during the day when one of the team needed a break) the bed was comfortable, and we would certainly go back there again.

Buckingham Hotel, NYC
happy1 May 4, 2009
The location was great, great restaurants and shopping, close to the park. The rooms were clean and the staff was great. The ... bed was very comfortable. The big problem was the noise level, I think it is due to the very old windows. They need to be replaced and or be sealed. also, the plumbing was pretty bad in the bathroom. The toilet didnt flush property and the water in the shower would change from very hot to very cold instantly. Kind of dangerous when it comes to the hot water. also, the A.C. was very old. it worked "o.k." there was a panel that was old and bent up, kind of dangerous to have our child near it for fear of sticking his hand inside, not safe. One more thing, the windows in the living room are not barred, another unsafe issue for children or even pets if they are allowed. Overall I would stay there again but request to check the water flow and temp of our shower before actually unpacking. Maybe all rooms arent like that. Also, whats going on with the vacant lot next store? kind of scary looking, not kept clean.

Large rooms for an Upper Mid-town Hotel

My review of Buckingham Hotel
Julie Ann Sep 17, 2008
The Buckingham provided all we needed. We especially liked the fact that there was a refrigerator and microwave in the room ... as well as eating utensils, cups, and plates. Carnegie Hall was across the street and Central park was a short walk. The staff was helpful and provided maps for the area and the subway. Though they don't provide a restaurant in the hotel, there is a pizza place just a couple of doors away.

Very Nice Hotel
Clara Sep 2, 2008
We were very pleased with this hotel. The rooms were large and comfortable. There was a living room with a sofa bed, a ... bedroom with a queen size bed, and a kitchenette which would be nice for a family who would like to eat some meals in. There is no pool or workout room or eating facilities there. It is an older hotel but conveniently located to everything. I think all their rooms have queen size beds and I wish there were some rooms with twin beds. We definitely will stay there again.

Great location, Great staff
Aaron Sep 1, 2008
We arrived at the hotel early and were hoping to just check our bags for a few hours - we were shocked that they told us they ... had a room already available and we could check in several hours before check-in time. The room was spacious and comfortable, and even included a kitchenette, which I wasn't expecting. They also have a business center on premises with free WiFi, which was a great and unexpected addition. If I had to come up with a complaint, the bathroom is a bit cramped, but I would certainly stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends.

Great location but.........
Nancy Rose Aug 20, 2008
The Buckingham is in a great location. We were able to walk to everything we wanted--shopping, shows, restaurants, etc... ... The staff was generally very helpful and friendly with the exception of one cranky one. The bathrooms are pretty dingy and old. There was no place to plug in our toothbrush and there was no sink in the little kitchen area. Still, we managed and the location was very good--parking very close by if you want to drive in for $40 a day. Another complaint was the bed. It was awful!

Potential to be a great hotel
Robert Jul 5, 2008
On the positive... size and location were perfect. It is actually an apartment: bedroom, living room, full kitchen and ... bath....tremendous closets. Close to Central Park, Fifth Ave., and Broadway. Plently of good restaurants in area. Subway station directly across the street. Clean hotel and helpful staff. On the negative...beds are very uncomfortable and need replacing. The windows are very old and thin so the noise level was very high.

Very Spacious
Karen Jul 5, 2008
The Buckingham Hotel has loads of living space. Very comfortable and roomy. The kitchenette was convenient for leftovers ... and drinks. The location was great too. It's about 2 blocks from central park and very close to shopping, restaurants, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, etc. One negative comment about the hotel is the pull out bed in the living room. We brought our 8-year old daughter who slept on it. It was uncomfortable for her -- she really felt the springs in her back and she sunk into the center. An adult would not be able to sleep there without much discomfort. Overall we were very happy with our experience at the Buckingham.
