Don't eat there
Linda.Oregon Sep 12, 2009
We only stayed at this hotel for one night on our return trip home from California. Check-in was easy and they had all of ... our information and room ready for us when we arrive, but the first disappointment started right when we entered our room. the cleaning staff must not be very motivated to clean the rooms because there was cereal under the desk and a half empty water bottle under one of the beds as well as large hairball in the bathroom. The restaurant experience was not all that different from the cleanliness of the room. The staff didn't seem all that enthused to be there. The dinner the night that we arrived went fairly smoothly but the breakfast the next morning was akin to a cat.5 hurricane. The service is very slow, we waited around 20 minutes for the waitress to take our order and about 10 just to get water! With only 3 other tables with people at them, most already eating, this is rather unacceptable. When the food arrived we were very disappointed in the value of the meal. My son ordered "rustic gourmet french toast" but when it arrived 3 pieces of normal machine cut bread you would buy at any supermarket. My meal on the other hand was almost completely different from what I ordered. I ordered sausage and got bacon, my eggs over easy? they were Hard. The french toast meal of 3 pieces of bread was slightly more than my meal which was sausage, hash browns, eggs AND french toast. This is something that the waitress conveniently forgot to mention when ordered our food. If that wasn't enough, our waitress was upset about something else that must have happen as we were leaving. She threw her hands up in the air her keys on the counter. We couldn't wait to get out of there. Overall we would not go back.

Bathroom was horrid
California Girl Aug 25, 2009
If it weren't for the great staff in the bar/restaurant who went above and beyond, I would never stay there again. I cleaned ... the bathroom floor myself as soon as we arrived because it smelled of urine and then I put towels down. I didn't even want to walk on the floor with my shoes..let alone barefoot. The smell was disgusting. They should fire their cleaning staff.

Excellent value for money
airbelgium Aug 22, 2009
The hotel is located right on the relatively busy US101 but this doesn't affect your stay at all. The rooms are clean and ... although the pool isn't very big it is well maintained. We stayed only one night on our trip down the Oregon coast but if I would ever have to go back to Coos Bay, I would consider this hotel again. Only disadvantage was that there was no complimentary breakfast. This seems to differ from one Red Lion to the next. There is a possibility to use the breakfast in the nice restaurant of the hotel but it will set you back about $15/person

Red Lion in Coos Bay-Great Place to Stay
running DWG Aug 18, 2009
The room was great, but the greatest thing about the stay here was the Restuarant. They had a 24% off coupon which we used, ... but the prices were very reasonable. The food quality was top notch, and the service was great!! When we go to Coos Bay again, we will come to the Red Lion! We were so satifies that we are also looking at using the Red Lion next month while on vacation!!

This is a great place to stay whether you're traveling along the coast or staying in Coos Bay. Rooms are clean and ... reasonably spacious, and far enough from the highway that you don't hear the road noise. The biggest surprise is the restaurant: good food at reasonable prices. I've been back several times, and will do so again.
