the best location in Montreal!
Moosebear Sep 12, 2009
This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. We love the location! It is about 500 feet from the Metro station- so you ... can be in Montreal within minutes to the UQAM station. From there, you can get anywhere the Metro goes. We never had to use our car either time. We were in & out of the city in minutes numerous times each day and it was very convienent to be at this location. The hotel features several breakfast buffet options and the food is good. Dinner was good also. Staff is friendly and efficient and the rooms are OK.

It was nice hotel but away from downtown and there is nothing around the hotel. It is right in front of the subway station ... so it was convenient to get to downtown but if you miss the last one, the cab ride back is about $20.

Take a subway to Peel station which is about 15 to 20 mins away and there are all kinds of clubs and bars there.

this hotel did not meet my expectations
traveler Aug 24, 2009
This hotel did not meet my expectations and it's definitely not a 4 star hotel (we also stayed at the Sandman in Toronto ... which was rated to be 3.5 stars but was several times better than the Sandman in Montreal). Shower knob broke and we couldn't stop the hot water for at least 30 min. I overheard a lady (who was a guest) state that her car was stolen from the hotel parking lot and she was waiting for the police to arrive for couple hours so I freaked out since I was afraid of the same thing happenning to me. The only good thing about this hotel was the very helpful staff.

Happy in Montreal Aug 8, 2009
Everything was great! I'm going to tell all my friends that are going there to stay at this hotel. However, although we ... booked a smoking room with Orbitz and it appeared on the printout, we had to pay $40 more for each night! None of the other hotels we booked with Orbitz has ever done that when we showed up at their reception desk. Driving, parking and moving around in another hotel in the center of town would have been a nightmare! Stay at this hotel and save yourself a mega headache!!!

Good value for location
Joe Aug 3, 2009
Drove from upstate NY. There was road work around the area so getting in or out of the parking lot could be a challenge. ... Convenient on-ramps to autoroutes and traffic is horrible at peak times but just be patient. I read the comments about the hard beds in the hotel; they were fine & comfortable, not luxurious. Property was dated but clean. Hotel restaurant staff was good & friendly.

Short walk to the Metro system and shopping. Buy the 3 day museum pass with transportation option from the tourist office 3-4 blocks from the Notre Dame Basilica. This pays for itself if going to several museums, The Botanical Garden, Biodome--check out the full list at http://montrealmuseums.org/

Nice Hotel
Erin Mar 2, 2009
This is a very nice, clean hotel in a great location. The metro is 30 feet from the front enterance, so if you don't want to ... deal with finding a parking space you can easily get around. The staff was very helpful and the room was large (we got one of the double queen rooms). The room also had a nice veiw of the city. Although this hotel isn't right in the center of the city, it is still close enough (5 min drive or 10 min metro ride). Parking is free, which is a nice perk too. The only thing is the breakfast buffet left something to be desired. Expensive and not appetizing. Regardless, nice hotel and I would definitely stay again.

I wouldn't say I was really impressed but i wouldn't say I was dissatisfied with this hotel. It is however in a great ... location right next to the Longueuil metro station so getting into the city is extrememly easy. Parking is also free for people staying in the hotel and you end up paying for parking at a lot of the hotels that are in downtown Montreal.

Dennis Sep 2, 2008
Our stay at this hotel was great. We arrived early, around 11 AM and our our room was actually ready. The staff was very nice ... and helpful. It was so easy to get in and out of the city because the metro station was in the parking lot. Also there was free parking for guests, and I exchanged money in the lobby for almost no fee. Definitely get the museum/transit pass, or at least a 1-3 day transit pass if you are staying here to go in and out of the city frequently (They don't sell it in the hotel so try to get it before hand, or you have to pay for transit into the city to buy it at one of the museums).

Had a great time in Montreal at the Sandsea. They were undergoing renovations on the outside of the hotel, but they kept the ... noise to reasonable hours of the day, and it wasn't bothersome at all. Excellent front desk helped us with all of our plans. Parking was great, and they were right next the metro for easy access to the city.

Might be because of the weak dollar, but shopping at the underground mall by the metro was excellent. Tourists received heavy discounts, basicly refunding taxes on top of sale prices. We got some great deals.

Robert Sep 22, 2007
Although we had some difficulties with the French language and having no clue of how some of the street names were pronounced ... or spelled, the staff at the hotel was very good at either spelling the names or making sure we could pronounce them. Another great thing about this hotel is the close proximity to the Metro, which is the only way I would recommend for visitors to get arount Montreal. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. I would highly recommend the Sandman for U.S. visitors.

The hotel recommended St. Dennis street for casual dining and it was only a couple of stops away on the Metro. This area is all restaurants and is very casual. If you can't find something you like to eat here, then Montreal does not have it for you

Last stop on the metro
Margaret Aug 27, 2007
My stay at this hotel was comfortable. The staff was excellent, polite and helpful, very nice people. The pool was ... enjoyable, the sauna hot and the excercise room better than some I have seen. You should be aware that there are no refrigerators in the room, a real drawback which I will not overlook again. We had doggie bags however, and the staff were nice enough to heat up our food in a microwave behind the front desk. Perhaps the real drawback is the location. This hotel is not in Montreal, but just across the river in Longueil, one metro stop from Montreal, and adjacent to the large bus depot in the area. Even if you were staying in Montreal proper you would have to negotiate the metro to travel around the city, so the fact that we had to travel into the city was not that much of an inconvenience. We learned the subway system within one day.

The Sandman Hotel Longueuil was overall of great value for money. The beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in and ... the staff were very friendly and helpful for the most part. The front desk staff were very helpful, and though I was early for my check-in they let me keep my luggage in their storage cages allowing me to get out into the city without delay. The metro station is located immediately beside the hotel, so although it is on the other side of the river from the main city, it's a quick stop or two over to the action.I did not have a bar/fridge in the room, which I thought was pretty standard, so a little dissapointed there. Also, the check-in is not until around three or three thirty, which is a bummer if you have an early morning flight and want to catch some zz's in the early afternoon. The only other small complaint I had was about the food; there was no breakfast menu for room-service and the restaurant's menu was very limited. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and an excellent value for money.

If you have kids or are big-ones yourselves you'll be pleased to find an amusement park immediately beside the hotel!
