Excellent food, great rooms
ugga Nov 29, 2009
The beds are very hard, we had numerous complaints in our groups and one or two fans. The food in the restaurants was ... excellent service was good but noticeably better if you tip. Mini bar was well stocked with waters and your choice of beverages. Not all places/tours were offered to book from the hotel, so shop around. If you don't like seafood, be sure to check out the menus, as it is the predominate menu choice. If your vegetarian be sure to ask as well, Lasagna, is the primary course.(Though it is excellent).

Nice Hotel
G & J Sep 23, 2009
The hotel was nice however never go in the off season. All the resturants were not open and the rooms were blocked. We ... booked 4 months in advance and still did not get the type of room we requested. The afternoon snack bar at the pool was never open. The breakfast dining room was closed and you had to eat in a small resturant. Would never go again in off season.

Different resort the second time around
Wanderlust Aug 12, 2009
My husband and I just returned from the Paradisus with our 22 month-old daughter. This was our second trip their, the first ... was a year ago with our then 10 month old daughter. We chose this particular resort for our initial visit because they have a Kids' Club that has a play/sleep area for infants and toddlers. They do also have an Activities Club for older children, however, on this trip we only saw the older children doing anything organized on Saturday when the place was crazy busy with many local guests...more on that.My most favorite parts of the Paradisus are the pool (when it's not crowded), the beautiful grounds, the spacious rooms and the lobby area in the evening. After dinner we usually sit in the open air lobby taking in the ocean breeze, the lighting, and the background music. I suppose it's due to lower occupancy than usual, but the restaurants alternated being closed. On any given night, though, 3 of the 5 main restaurants and almost always the buffet were open for dinner. Reservations needed to be made in advance, however, you can only book one day ahead (last year we could do 3). We enjoyed sitting at the hibachi at Sumire. Capri was good (slow service), however, the second night we ate their the waiter never put in the meal order for our daughter (he thought we were joking!). We love the Reef because you can sit outside overlooking the water. The beef filet was excellent. We didn't go to Tequila Grill. We weren't alowed in L'Hermitage since our daughter is younger than 5. Everyone we spoke to said they enjoyed L'Hermitage. Men do need to wear long pants at Capri and L'Hermitage. Upon arrival the room had an insect spray smell to it. We were told we'd have to wait until the next day to change rooms. We ended up staying in the room. Over time I definitely detected a musty odor. I guess that's to be expected in a hot/humid climate. The rooms were very clean. On Saturday the local crowds arrived en masse. By mid-afternoon it was a challenge to get a drink at the pool bar since people weren't leaving the little stools and their were TONS of kids ordering their own drinks. Perhaps they should consider a separate "bar" for kids. A few people told us that other people had moved their things from their beach chaors and took them over. we had this happen to us last year as well but only when it was really crowded. it was short-lived, though. By Sunday afternoon it was very quiet once again. Most nights there was some sort of entertainment...a Mexican show, a 50s show, reaaallly bad karaoke, live spanish music, and casino night. The Fun Pub was over at least a few nights that I know of. Although we were traveling with our 22 month old, we both felt there were ALOT of kids. It seemed like most people had children with them. If we were not with our daughter that may have bothered me but she enjoyed dancing and playing with them. We used the Kids Club for letting our daughter nap in the afternoons and to play with the toys and other children for a little while each day. It's very clean and air-conditioned. They give you a two-way radio so you can go swimming and still get in touch with you if you leave your child there to sleep or play. [...] was great. Overall, we had a great trip. The resort seems to have scaled back since we were there last year. If I had not found a really great rate I might have been disappointed. I think the next trip we take to a resort will be somewhere else (maybe another Paradisus) mainly because we've been here twice already.

I was wary when I read other posts about how the swine flu impacted the hotel. I am happy to report that my experience was ... great. We went in early August and the hotel staff was fantastic. All the workers were enthusiastic and very helpful. I am not sure which restuarants were open, but we had no problem getting reservations. We went for a wedding and the coordinator did a fantastic job personalizing the experience. It is a great place to get married.

Great vacation good value
JT Jul 27, 2009
My wife and I went on our honeymoon from July 15 to the 22nd. Overall we thought Paradisus was a good value and most ... everything was done very well from the buffet and resturants to the staff. As some have noted they seem to be coming out of the effects of limited occupancy. There were at least 2 resturants open each day as well as the buffet. You had to make reservations a day in advance, the mexican one Tequila was great. It was strange but on the weekend they do seem to have some deals for local people I presume and the pool area became very crowded. We spent most of our time on the beach and always found a spot no matter when we went down. Pool Bar was open each day, no drink runners but it was not that far from the beach. They did have a grill available in the pool area most days for lunch snacks or you could go to the buffet. The beach is great, sand beautiful. The only complaint was an abundance of sea grass from the reef in the water which would pile up on shore each day. They tractored it off best they could, not a huge deal just not as nice as other beaches we have been to. Overall we were satisfied with our stay and had a very good time. The rooms are great (beds are hard) and the housekeeping staff did a good job, keeping things fresh and the mini-bar stocked. I think this is a great value for the money and I am sure it will only improve as more people return.

a brief review
A Vermonter Jun 23, 2009
We stayed on the resort the whole time we were there. The trip was alright, I wasn't expecting too much. The wait staff was ... wonderful but unfortunately the resort had a promotion for locals and was deluged with rude locals and their many children for part of our stay and it really ruined our experience. before you book ask if this promotion still exists because it's not worth dealing with this crowd if you can go to one of the 20 other all inclusives in the area that don't do this promotion. No lie, I got kicked/punched and splashed for hours at the pool bar and in the pool and kids were jumping and screaming and tearing around the place for days and no one did a thing. I was not impressed.

Poor hospitality!
Disappointed customer! Jun 13, 2009
We stayed at Paradisus early June 09. The hotel was possibly at 25% occupancy due to the lack of travel to Mexico as a result ... of the "swine Flu". While the hotel was basically empty, the hotel "front desk" was not curtious, unwilling to meet our needs (as in could not provide us with a king size bed- did I say only 25% occupancy). The resort had closed off 4 of the 7 restaurants, the disco, bars, and more than half the rooms/suites. Obviously staff was reduced as well. All closings were done with out any notification to its guest prior to arrival. While we are Understanding of the reductions due to the lack of travel, the hotel staff was very uncurtious, and made no attempt to improve the quality of our stay. We are not fans of rude ppl. Never experienced this type of service in any vacation we've taken and should not ever.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!
HELLA ANGRY VACATIONER Jun 11, 2009
This resort was the biggest rip off! By the time our stay there ended I was sick with anger. Everything that could have ... possibly gone wrong for me and family did. We were there with a lot of family from all over the U.S, when we got there they put me, my husband, and our two boys in a room that had a moldy smell. We asked to be moved and then were moved to a room that had a bathroom that was ant infested. We asked for something to be done, so they sent house keeping to spry the ants with Raid and this only made the problem worse for some reason. We ended up with even more ants. Every room had a mini bar and it is a big lie about them keeping it stocked. Their site says it is stocked daily with soda bottled water and a selection of rum, whisky, and vodka. Not true. The moment we were put in our room there was rum, whisky, and vodka, but the bellhop removed it from our mini bar. We asked why and the reason was because we are able to get drinks at the bar outside. Then they went around and turned off all the mini bars in the resort thinking we won't drink a hot bottle of water and it would save them from having to keep it stocked. Everyone in our group had a mini bar that was turned off and the manager tried to tell me it was broken. I told her no way because everyone in my party has a hot mini bar. I witnessed them come to the room and turn it back on. In result to this mini bar fiasco I ended up with spoiled milk that I had to bring with us due to my children having allergies. The food was gross and was not fresh. They claim to have all these restaurants well they were not open ever. We could only eat at the buffet and again it was gross! The one night a restaurant was open they told us what we could and could not order off the menu and the menu is already small. The service was very bad and they front desk people had such a horrible arrogance. Over the weekend the resort filled up with Mexican vacationers and Spaniards from Spain, because they spoke Spanish to the servers and the bartenders they got service and we did not. We could not get service from anyone to save our lives. We had to ask a Spanish guest to order our drinks for us just to get them. On a scale of 1- 10 I give this place a negative 10. I feel like it is a waste of a beautiful beach.

The Swine Flu seriously affected the hotel (closed restaurants, etc), but the staff made the most of the guest who were ... there, and treated everyone inour large group wonderfully! Many families had children and they seemed to be having a good time. The food is NOT gourmet, but it is quite good for all inclusive. Tip early on and the staff will treat you like gold!

Worst Hotel but Most Expensive STAY AWAY
nadiaro May 25, 2009
AWFUL. This hotel was practically shut down besides the people that were there for the wedding party. Guests should have ... been informed prior to thier arrival that 85% of the hotel was in non-working order due to the swine flu outbreak. NO restaurants were open besides the buffet. NO Bars were open besides one pool bar and One small bar in the lobby. NO Clubs were open. We asked at check in for an upgrade and they said nothing was left which is humurous due to the fact their was only 50 people in the hotel during our stay and we had 30 in the wedding party. We should ALL have been given vouchers to come back when the hotel was 100% again. This lack of care for the consumer is disgusting.

As an all inclusive hotel it was fine... the food was odd and so I didn't eat very much. It was my first time so I didn't ... know what to expect from an all inclusive. The rooms smelled a bit of mold but I was told by others in my party that they all smell like this... The spa was awful! I might as well have been in a doctors office when I got my pedicure. The rooms were spacious but you don't spend much time there... oh and I had no water pressure in my room for showers. i wouldn't choose this place for myself again. It is also to far away from any true mexican cities so there is only exposure to resort world ....

My husband and i went to this hotel to celebrate our 25th anniversary, it was fabulous. The weather was not the greatest, ... but we still found plenty to do, a gorgeous pool setting and very nice clean beach with covered lounges. Room accomodations were great and very clean. Service was excellent! The part we did not like was the promotion push. From the time we arrived at the airport someone was trying to commit us to an excursion or visit to hotel or learn about time shares, the same when we got to the hotel. Hotel check in was slow, but staff was very courteous. Waiters and servers were all excellent and we went off season so it was so quiet and they had extra time to really spoil us with things like making speciality coffees etc. All inclusinve was awesome! The food was fantastic! We did tip extra for the wait staff, bartenders, maids and bell man. It is not required but appreciated. We highly recommend this resort for anyone. We did not have kids with us so we did not use any of the kids facilities, kids would love the pool!!

Irene Jun 23, 2008
About Paradisus I have nothing but good things to say about it: the service is more than excelent and what to say about the ... food, the buffet was pretty great, even the snack grill was very good (hamburgers most of all) and the 4 different dining options were amazing, I'm not really into giving tips however every single member of the hotel deserved it. They have three different categories, one for families(Family Concierge), other called Royal Service (is pretty much the same tha the simple room, the main difference is you have your own jacuzzi in the room who also has sea view) and the ordinary room, but believe it is all but ordinary. I widely recommend this hotel. The fact that it is from Meli? is a really proof of guarantee. Perhaps it is a little expensive, but believe me: it completely worths it.

The food was excellent, but restaurants fill up quickly. Definitely don't miss the French restaurant as it was great. The ... value for the money at the Pardisus is amazing. This was our first All-Inclusive stay and we'd definitely recommend it. Friendly staff, good accomodations (though the bed was like sleeping on a board). The lobby is a nice place to just relax. Very open and airy with live music in the evening. If your looking for a party resort, this isn't it. But if you're looking to kick back and relax, this is the place. Plan on getting up VERY early if you want a place in the shade by the pool. Some reviews have questioned the family friendliness of the place, but there were lots of kids around and there was a designated kids pool and play area. We didn't splurge for the Royal Service, but it would have been nice for the benefit of the private pool itself. Overall, a good place to enjoy some time in Mexico.

The Paradisus was a great experience. The staff was friendly and courteous. The room condition was nice and the food was ... fantastic. The french restaurant was the best followed by the Italian restaurant. Overall the beach was a great place to soak up some sun but there are rocks once you get into the water which is the only negative to the resort. In all fairness every resort I have stayed at in the area has a rocky beach. I would recommend this resort to couples and families since its overall service can appeal to either.
