Good...not great

I took my wife to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The location of the the hotel couldn't be better for what we did. ... Very short walk to Central Park and Times Square. 1 Block away from Radio City. Our room was small by our standards, but adequate for one night. It was very clean and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The flat screen TV seemed too big for the room and the reception was grainy at best. The hotel on this particular evening, Sat. into Sunday, was noisy and the walls seemed rather thin compared to other places we have stayed. We will probably book this hotel (but request a better room) on trips where we will come for the theater. Just don't pack much because of the size of the room.

So-So

The personnel here was very friendly from check-in and security to the restaurant staff. Unfortunately the room was so-so. ... The beds were comfy, but the room was cramped and didn't get cold enough. I didn't have a do not disturb sign the first and sure enough, I was woken by a knock on the door the next morning by the cleaning staff. I got a sign that night. Small details that make a difference.

RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THINGS
nyc 1st timers Oct 28, 2009
The hotel was right down the street from the Time's Square Ball, in the middle of the Theater District and great for someone ... who wants to be right in the middle of the action. The rooms were clean, but it could use a touch up, but since you only slept there it wasn't a problem. Couple blocks from NBC, down the street from ABC, the back side of the hotel is on the street where David Letterman's studio is.

It is close to a stop for the double decker buses which is what we used to see most of the sites, bargin with them because we got three days for the price of two. It is close to the underground metro systems but we never used it.

Hoping for More... Aug 31, 2009
We were sick when we checked into our room. It was not at all they way it appeared in the photos on Orbitz. The room was ... very small, the furniture was banged up, and the chair had torn and worn places in the upholstery. We spent the first two hours there trying to get moved to a different hotel. This was frustrating as the hotel and Orbitz kept passing us back and forth. One would say that they couldn't cancel and refund the room unless the other requested it. Finally a manager did release us. Sheraton corporate was very helpful in getting us a room at another property which was great. This was my first time to use Orbitz - it had been recommended to me and I was planning on booking a large family vacation through it; but now I am afraid to do so.

Great Hotel, Not So Great Staff
Wannabe New Yorker Jun 27, 2009
This hotel was very impressive. The location was fabulous! It was a short walk to Time Square, many of the theaters, tons ... of restaurants, and lots of shopping. The rooms were very large. However, the hotel charged me for my stay, on top of already being charged through Orbitz! This was very disappointing and inconvenient. They said it would take 5-10 business days to return the money to my account. I am still waiting!

Hotel Lover Apr 22, 2009
Always considered Sheraton a trustworthy name. I knew when I got on the beaten up elevator and exited to the worn carpet in ... the hallway that I was not in for a pleasant surprise. My room had no minibar, robe, room service menu or any other amenity. The drapes had holes in them and were literally falling off the rods. No temperature control in the room. Need I go on?

The Sheraton Manhattan at Times Square was just ok. Staff was very friendly, and helpful. Our room smelled a bit funky, and ... the maintenance on the room was not well maintained. Wallpaper was peeling from the bathroom walls, our bathtub had black junk in it that I could never figure where it came from. The cable tv only worked part of the time. The walls are very thin and we could hear all neighbors around us at all hours of the night. The elevators were never clean. The touch screen computer in the lobby was helpful to print off flight boarding passes and to check out of the hotel. I guess for a home away from home, and for the price and being a vacation, I would of expected better maintained facilities. I understand that lots of people stay there and the rooms get used a lot, but that I guess would mean that you would have better upkeep. Next time we will try a different place.

Great holiday experience
Alice Dec 7, 2008
Sheraton Manhattan provided us with quick access to broadway shows, Rockefeller Center, and delightful shopping. All were ... within walking distance, and we had absolutely no trouble getting a cab to and from the airport. We enjoyed excellent meals in and around the Sheraton. While NY was crowded with holiday visitors, we felt safe and secure while staying here. We found the staff to be professional, friendly, and efficient. This is our second visit, and we plan to return, Lord willing.

Diana Aug 31, 2008
The location of this hotel was awesome for Times Sq, Rockefeller Center, 5th ave shopping, etc. The bed in our king size ... room was really comfortable, slept really well. But the room was really small, bathroom was really small with old fixtures. There was no fan in the bathroom so the steam was strong. The hair dryer was old and didn't work, had to call down to get another one. Rust in the bathtub, ceiling above shower was droopy and almost moldy looking. The carpets in the room and the halls were stained.
