We chose this hotel because it is located in Grand Case, the gourmet capital of the Caribbean. It was a pleasant surprise to ... find that not only was it was a short walk from all of our favorite restaurants but the whole hotel is a paradise in itself. They upgraded our rooms (we traveled w/ another couple) but we didn't like the upgrade since the bedroom was upstairs from the bathroom so we requested to change. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our request quickly. [...] at the front desk is one of the most helpful and kind staff member we've encountered in all of our travels. The grounds are beyond beautiful. Security is found 24 hours a day, everyone is friendly and the views are incredible. There is a small private beach as well as public beach access that was uncrowded. We visited Orient Beach and Ilet Pinel via a ferry, only to find that the hotel beach was every bit as nice as the other beaches and far less populated. If you enjoy French food, I promise you will find no less than spectacular food! As weak as the Dollar is though, the cost was very high for food but it was well worth it. If you enjoy butterflies, there is a butterfly conservatory minutes away from the hotel. We travel a bit and typically don't return to the same hotels so that we can experience different ones. I will absolutely go back to this same hotel and highly recommend the experience.

We went for our honeymoon and this hotel couldn't have been more perfect. From the free welcome bottle of wine to the ... awesome staff at the bar (whats up Sandra, Sabrina and Judith!) everything was perfect. Laurent at the water sports desk was super helpful and hooked us up with a great private charter boat to go snorkeling on and see the surrounding waters/beaches. The food at the Sunset cafe was delicious and I still haven't figured out how to function normally in the mornings...i miss my coffee/pastry and beach view in the mornings. If you go make sure you say hi to Ole the gift shop "guard dog" :)

Cruisin B Sep 29, 2009
Grand Case was an excellent choice for our trip. It was our first visit and it was definitely worth the extra drive to the ... other side of the island. About a 30 minute drive from the airport the drive is fairly quick and there are destination signs along the way to keep you on the right path. We had the ocean view package, which gave us a beautiful calming view every morning. The Sunset Cafe offered a small breakfast that we had included in our package as well. After breakfast we had several things to choose from the activity center. Here we booked the trip to Saba and St Barth. Both excellent choices all though a bit pricey for the visits. September is a slow season and most of the shops and restaurants were closed but make sure to have a rental car to allow for exploring the area. We ate at La California just down the street a few times, here the rate was 1 euro to 1 dollar, this was a great deal to try French kitchen. For BBQ definitely try the local Lolo just down the street from the hotel, good ribs and snapper await. For shopping Front Street on the Dutch side of the island is a must. Anything from jewelry to watches, and cigarettes and wines are at bargain prices. Make sure to walk around and not spend your money in the first two places you visit. There is always a better deal or an item you just want more down the street somewhere.

Grand Case wonderful. Alamo Ripoff
Tom Sep 19, 2009
We were VERY pleased with the hotel and service. Beach was beautiful. Only minor complaint was that since it was the slow ... season the restaurant closed at 4 pm. Could not even get a drink to watch the sunsets with. We also booked the use of a rental car from Alamo through Orbitz and I am including a letter I have set to them here....... My wife and I just returned on Friday 9/18 from a wonderful week in St Maarten. I am sorry to say that the end of our trip was ruined because of something that happened to us at the rental return center. Prior to our flight we packed our luggage as usual. I placed two iPods and headphones into the front zipper compartment of my carry on suitcase for easy access at the airport. The bags never left my hand or sight except for the approximately 3 - 4 minutes when two employees at the return area transferred them from the rental car into the shuttle van while I stepped inside with another employee to sign the paperwork and settle the charges. Imagine my shock when after passing through security and customs to find that someone had stolen the two iPods worth over $500.00, not to mention the hundreds of dollars worth of music stored on them. Obviously by this time there was not a thing I could do about it. I had been warned about leaving things unattended while on the island, and as a frequent traveler I am fully aware of keeping an eye on my property. However I NEVER expected to be ripped off by the employees of a car rental company I had trusted in the past. You can rest assured that my story will be posted on the various travel sites such as Trip Adviser warning others about using your company on that island. I will also be filing a complaint with Orbitz which is where I booked the trip and car rental. Tom & Diane Soares

E&E sunseekers Sep 16, 2009
We stayed at GCBC Sept 5- 13 2009. The service was well beyond what you can normally expect from a 3-star hotel. Staff is ... friendly and always ready to help. Room was clean, offered a great ocean view we saw from our balcony school of fish, stingrays, a baracuda and wonderful sunset. Interesting snorkling can be done on-site around the boat dock. The view from the resort is gorgeous. We went kayaking around the bay that was fun. The Hotel is safe, 24h security. Rented a car from Payless (offsite) everything went smoothly. Signed up for the Friday farewell catamaran tour with Golden Eagle and 12 meter challenge plenty of fun!! Must see: Pinel Island, Fort St-Louis and Pic Paradis. I will recommend this hotel and destination to my friends. Food was excellent!

St. Martin is my best caribbean island yet. It is quite small, easy to navigate. The Beach Club is a nice size, great ... location with views to the sunset, Anguilla, and Grand Case. Water sports right on site, great snorkeling trip 3 minutes away at Creole rock, kayaks and a nifty personal catamaran. Room was large, overlooking the ocean with a nice calm swimming beach down 5 steps. Private, topless sunbathing on a nice catwalk, great french restuarant on site and easy walk to an unbelievable selection of dining in Grand Case.

very convenient! we had a very very short trip, 4 days, 3 nights. we scheduled all our activities at the water activities ... desk and it was so convenient as that we got picked up to go snorking/discover diving and picked up for an all snorkeling trip to 2 islands, tintamarrie? and anguilla. there are two private little beaches just steps away. you can get a quick bite at the sunset cafe restaurant at the hotel or just walk down the street to convenience stores, supermarkets, the grand case restaurants, and lolos. only downside was the wifi did work the whole time we were there and they kept saying they could do nothing about it.

The hotel is fairly small and quiet. Great little beach and views from the beach. Rooms are large and have patios or decks. ... Snorkling around the rocks was very good The breakfast that was included was just juice, coffee, and breads everyday with no variety. Anything else was priced in Euros and expensive. We made and ate breakfast in our room, and had a nice kitchenette to prepare lunches and sometimes even dinner. The sunset views from their boardwalk around the rocks were spectacular. They had a nice Manager's reception one night with rum punch and lots of hot and cold appetizers....very nice.

We chose the Grand Case Beach Club over three star rated hotels because of the many positive reviews we read. It lived up to ... all those comments. The rooms were clean and spacious, but not as plush as some travelers would want. The beaches were beautiful to look at and wonderful to use. The restaurant was great. We found we preferred it to other choices in Grand Case. If you go there for dinner, tell [...] hello. It is the kind of place where you get to know the staff by name and they remember your preferences. The price was very good, the experience was excellent. We left with only two questions; "Why did we wait so long to come here? How soon can we arrange to return?"

The place was great, and beautiful, nice private beach. We traveled in august which is off season, so no night life ... whatsoever, most of the restaurants in Marigot were closed, empty streets after 7pm, all the stores closed after 6pm. The hotel is nice and quiet, beautiful location, friendly staff. The Sunset Cafe is nice , but the food could be better, great drinks though. The big downside is that there is no room for the guests to shower if you have a late flight. Our flight was at 7:45pm and check out is 11am. So we were not able to enjoy our last day on the beach.

First off just to get it out of the way- if you're looking for a party spot, close to nightlife, this is NOT for you. Grand ... Case is about 5 miles, but a $30-40 cab ride from the nightlife area of the island. So if that's what you're looking for, don't stay there. However, if you're looking for a) a beautiful beach, b) relative quiet, c) a great sunset view, d) a really good restaurant on the premises with a great view of the sea (or other great restaurant options nearby), e) excellent service and just an overall relaxing beach vacation, then Grand Case Beach Club is a good way to go. The pictures don't do it much justice, it's just such a beautiful spot. And if you Scuba dive, DON'T use the in house watersports people. Go down the street to Octopus Diving- MUCH better personalized, friendly service, and great prices. About the only nitpicks i'd have are a) the internet access is wifi only - so you have to have your own laptop. Unless you want to spend about $12-15/hr using their computer (and on this note, i couldn't find an internet cafe to save my life, so if you want internet access, bring a laptop) and b) the fitness center, while adequate, was $5 a day. Really? That seemed a bit too "nickel and dime" but eh, i just went running around the island instead.

The Grand Case Beach Club provided a great experience for us. Their staff was very friendly and helpful. They were more than ... willing to set-up activities during our stay, as well as give us tips on places to go and things to see. The rooms are very clean and kept that way by diligent and daily house cleaning. We enjoyed a week of snorkeling, boating, beach hopping, scuba diving, zip-lining, and great food! I can see why St Martin is known for being the friendly island and the culinary island of the Caribbean.

The dining in the small town of Grand Case is fantastic. It is a short walk from the beach club into town, but well worth the venture. There are many restaurants to choose from and they range in price from very reasonable to the more extravagant. We ate at a different place almost every night just to try and experience a variety of foods and cooking.

If you are from a big US city such as NYC, LA, Chicago or Miami you will be EXTREMELY disappointed with the food in the entire Grand Case area. The restaurants may be appear nice, but the food is horrible, not to mention expensive. If the food was good, no problem paying the $$$.... The one exception is LoLo's Creole BBQ, a local BBQ spot that is very good and tasty. Lot's of food and very inexpensive. I strongly recommend renting a car and driving the short distance to Marigot, as all the establishments there have much better choices and much higer quality of food!!! You will need the car anyway if you wish to get away from the resort and check out the other wonderful beaches, we highly recommend "Baie Rouge", its one of the best beaches I have ever seen, great swimming and snorkling.... Very private too!!!
