Nice for my purposes
Megan Nov 16, 2009
I needed an affordable place for my business purposes that didn't require me to have a car. Although "Walking distance" is ... dependent on the person, walking to a nice restaurant is possible. It was nice having a pool and a small workout room. The hotel was kept warm to save energy which got annoying but the air conditioning in the room is your own preferrence. Would definitely use this hotel again.

There are a couple of good happy hours nearby, the IW Club at the Esmaralda and Vicki's across the street. All good suggestions from the staff.

For a guy try the Tilted Kilt (something like that) an Irish/Scottish Pub where the gorgeous waitresses wear very little. It's actually a very cool sports bar with numerous tv's and good food. Right on Highway 111, good Happy hour beer prices also. Forget The Beer Hunter, big prices and not near the sports bar the Kilt is and the hot bodes are far better at the Kilt!

Great Weekend Getaway!!!!
Bob Oct 26, 2009
The hotel staff were very helful and friendly from check in to check out. Got some really great tips from the front desk on ... reasonable restaurants and happy hour spots.Thursday through Saturday evenings the hotel has a really good singer who does Sanatra and others from that era, which takes you back to what might have been going on when Lucy & Dezi owned the place. Nice clean rooms, and quiet too and we were right off the lobby area. We'll stay there again.Nice Continental Breakfast too [...]

Best Deal in Indian Wells
Eric Oct 18, 2009
This is clearly not some sort stuffy 5-star Indian Wells resort but then, we really prefer a more old-fashioned touch (hence ... our always staying at Caliente Tropics when we go to Palm Springs). Here the old-fashioned feel comes from the fact that the place was established by Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball during the 50's, and there are pictures of them all over the place. They are generous enough to have a fantastic 50%-off happy hour every day (munches included), and you can get 50% off appetizers too, something they are fortunately underestimating since our appetizers were full meals, hamburgers and fries. It's in a big lounge that has a big-screen TV and a fireplace. We also got a free continental breakfast, which was not the cheapie thing you find at other places; in fact it included hard-boiled eggs so people on low-carb diets didn't have to worry. I left my iPod charger and cord in the room and when I called they said they would ship it to me no charge, unlike other places where they stick you for the cost.

Quiet and Restful
Roadtrip Addict Oct 9, 2009
The hotel was quiet but we did go during the week. The carpet in our room was dirty and the beds were Motel 6 comfortable - ... certainly not what I expected after reading the description of the hotel. The breakfast was just okay, the pastry was stale but the coffee was hot. I didn't hate it but I won't stay there again.

A little good and a little bad
A friend Oct 5, 2009
The location was very nice and the pool was fantanstic. However, when we checked in, we asked for two queen sized beds. It ... was very clear that the hotel was far from booked entirely. The hotel clerk made reference to the fact that we booked on [...]and that they were losing money. She said if we had booked directly with them they would have matched the price and given us two beds instead of one king sized bed. Our room was located directly adjacent to the large air conditioning unit which kept me up most of the night. [...] On the other hand, the porter drove me about a mile to the grocery store to get Tylenol for my headache. I tipped him generously but still that was a very kind gesture.

My stay in September-09
jackthedecker Oct 3, 2009
The room walls were acceptable, but people doing the painting or wall papering did poor job; carpet was dirty. And then the ... bugs came, they seemed to like the bathroom sink for some reason, although no food had been left in there. I killed them all but their cousins returned a second day. My friend and I were moved to a Jr. suite which was very acceptable. Outside of those problems the staff was very curtious; the continental breakfast only average at best; the pool was beautiful and for the most part everything was fine and I would stay there again.

The air conditioner in the room we were given did not work.(It was 108 outside). We asked to be moved and without a blink of ... an eye we were moved to a room that was even nicer than the first. I had no idea of the history of the place when I made the reservation. But it was fun knowing that you were walking in the same place as some of Hollywood's biggest stars of the past!

Good value, good location
Erik-Struggling Golfer Aug 24, 2009
Going there for two days of golf, we were not in the hotel at all hardly during the day, but the pool area was very nice. The ... staff seemed friendly enough. The location is very good if you are doing things in the Indian Wells area. The overall appearance of the hotel is very nice, beautiful lobby. The only negative that I would have to say was that there were a few ants that seem to have made themselves a home in the room. And like all hotels, it's best to keep the sliding door to a patio area closed because some flying bugs (bees, flies) might creep in. Overall, a nice hotel value.

Melissa's Weekend Getaway!
Angelina and The Girls. Aug 10, 2009
Everything but one thing was perfect. There was a strong smell like sewer in the restroom after the showers started and the ... smell remained for the rest of our stay. The room, restroom and everything else was very clean but we left the door to the restroom open in order to air out the place but the air didn't help. Might just be specific rooms this affected. I would stay again and recommend to a friend with hopes of not getting another smelly room.
