You only had to walk a block or so to the strip. If you don't like the hustle and bustle of the strip this is the hotel for you. You might have to pass a couple of vagrants but it's fairly safe.

Close to Strip, Lower Cost Comfort
Rosie Jun 1, 2009
This hotel is minutes walk to the main action of the Las Vegas Strip, just behind Bally's and the Flamingo. We weren't able ... to check in early, but they held our bags and allowed us to freshen up in the spa. The spa was soothing and useful, as well as easily accessible, with free use of sauna and steamroom. The pooldeck was small, but nice atmosphere, $18 for a bucket of 5 domestic beers- sweet! The room was very peaceful, nice beds, and clean. However, the housekeeper did knock fairly early on our checkout day- not cool. The front desk staff was not particularly friendly, but the valet staff made up for it, helping with any of our needs. In order to avoid the craziness of the strip and to save a little bit of money, I would definitely stay at the Westin Casuarina again.

Chinois Asian Fusion by Wolfgang Puck at Ceasar's Palace had delicious menu selections, great service, and we enjoyed a Chimay Trappist Ale. Buffet: Flavors at Harrah's, had lots of good choices including crab legs, prime rib, mexican, asian, breakfast, desserts, etc. Money Saver: Dinner at Harley Davidson was inexpensive and large portions. Good food, but don't order the shrimp fettucine.

The Nice One
Justin Case Jun 1, 2009
Great experience overall. Hotel was clean and quiet. Bed was extremely comfortable. Hotel staff was very helpful. Casino ... was small, but casino staff more than made up for that. My fiance loved the spa, and found the service similar, if not better, than larger strip hotels. Five minute walk to the strip kept you close to the action, yet far enough away to get away if you needed to. Will definitely stay again.

We went to studio 54, the taxi ride was about ten dollars and on the way back about a block from the hotel there was a small ... liquor store that had a bar in it. you get a hot dog and a beer for $2.50, thats was a good deal close to the hotel for those late night munchies.

Great place, pet friendly AND clean!!! Non smoking.... gotta love it!
Rita Kristine Jan 1, 2009
Just a hop, skip, and a jump from the strip. Great location for those that want a nice hotel, non smoking, and have a ... pet. The rooms were nice, clean, and the staff was nice. Only complaint I have is that when we got hungry late, there wasn't much to choose from on the menu and the nachos were about $15. $15 for nachos??? It took over an hour to get them and we were sitting in the bar. The bar servers didn't pay much attention to us at all. We had to throw ourselves at them to order the food. I guess it might have something to do with the whole casino scene, but I was annoyed nonetheless. Otherwise! Great Place! Will be back.

Great value option
Victoria Aug 5, 2008
The Westin Casuarina was a great, less expensive option for staying near the strip. I was in town for work, but I'd keep it ... in mind for a leisure trip to Vegas if I was trying to save money. Of course, it's not nearly as colorful as the big strip casinos. It has one with great $3 happy hour craps but I found the casino staff surly and unpleasant. I was also somewhat turned off by the restaurant, Suede. I had a good dinner there, but the breakfasts I had were horrid. The $18 buffett was terrible. But everyone around me was chomping away so maybe there's something wrong with me. The room was wonderful - I love those heavenly beds - so that more than made up for it.

Located very close to the Strip, but far enough off of it to be less congested.
--James, USA May 26, 2008
The strip is two blocks away and the hotel is noticeably less busy than the strip outfits. This makes it less manic and a bit of a retreat from the centre of the strip action.

Walk across the strip to the Mesa Grill in Caesar's Palace (near the Sports Book).

We were 1 (long) block off the strip with Ceaser's Palace, Bally's, The Paris and Bellogio right there. The hotel is very centrally located. If you want take a cab tell the driver not to take the strip you will get where you want to go much faster!

We would take a taxi from the airport next time. For lunch or dinner go to Paris Hotel and eat at Mona Mi Gabi (about two blocks away). It faces the strip and the Bellagio fountains. Very romantic, chic and on the upscale side. The food and service was excellent. Get a table outside. It was so worth it.
