Great Trip!
Cards Fan Dec 4, 2009
I would definitely go for the room upgrade again. Sure, the room had the hot tub in it with the bottle of sparkling wine and ... the fresh fruit basket. But the great surprise was the private club. It was very relaxing to be able to go 2 doors down and grab a nice, quiet breakfast and avoid the loud masses at the buffet. There is something very relaxing about sitting in front of a window wall, 8 stories up, and looking directly out to the ocean first thing in the morning&with a screwdriver in my hand. I believe this is the only bar open that early in the morning. It also included free internet access, had a large screen TV, and some kind of late afternoon happy hour. The food was good, and there was plenty of it. Was it 5 star? No. But it was easy to find something good to eat at every meal. If you like sushi, there is a small place open during the day by the pool ask for a sashimi sampler. The Mexican restaurant was great also. The dress code is enforced at the French restaurant. I was VERY sunburned the last night and could not wear my dress shirt, so they did not let us in. But they were nice enough to call over to the Italian restaurant and we got right in. The beach was great compared to other places. We walked past 10 or so other places and some had nothing but rocks or a small strip of sand. Crown Paradise has one of the best that we saw. The staff was great. They actually looked like they were happy to be at work. The front desk was especially helpful when we wanted to leave the resort and go shopping. They gave us a map, pointed out where the malls are, and even gave us the correct change for the bus. The only things I would like to see changed were the liquor selection and the smoke shop. I would have loved to grab a Cuban cigar and a Grand Marnier and sit on my balcony and relax. That didn't happen. I didn't see anything that resembled"top shelf" liquor, and the smoke shop did not have a humidor. But considering the price of the whole package, I can say we got more than what we paid for. We will be taking the kids next time we go, so Crown Paradise will be our destination. We peeked in on some of the children's areas. Kids of all ages looked like they were having a blast. Separate areas for different age groups seemed to work well each with a pool. The "adults only" pool was very nice too. It did not look over the beach, but the lagoon. I gladly gave up the view for the quiet surroundings and the swim up bar. The 2 hot tubs were also very nice once the sun went down and the air cooled off. REMEMBER THE ROOM UPGRADE!

Our trip was Great!!! Excellent service at the pools, bars and restuarants! We dont typically buy into the activities when we ... do all inclusive resorts but this tme we did a jungle tour and snorkeling trip and it was great...if you do this make sure and get an under water camera...the reef that we jet skied to was amazing we saw so many tropical fish and even squid! (the guide kept calling them calamari) it was funny... but overall great, great place to stay. The waiters, bartenders we extremly helpful and were not annoying in any way with trying to get ya to purchase stuff. Although when your on the beach there are plenty of people trying to sell you things. Make sure you bring small bills...we made sure to have lots of $5 and $10's with us. The hotel also had a great show...they put o a circue de soleil of there own and it was really good

We were taken care of by the staff, no issues. Our breakfast to our room was consistently late, but not by much, we made fun of the laid back atmoshpere. And liked it! [...] (Two elevators did not work; you had to use the freight elevators to get to your room). Half the place was under ... remodeling, some of the events scheduled never happened due to staff from being fired, ect, ect. The place was very dark; they shut the security lights off at 1000 pm. The midnight cook serves stale food; examples were fries served that had been setting on counter for hours, out of entries all the time and cold coffee.

I went to visit different places everyday. When I arrived they kept my transfer voucher so I had to talk to the travel agent ... the next day so he could sell me the tours. I did not like that they want to push you to buy the tours with them. When I arrived the receptionist did not tell me that I had to put my room key in a special box to turn on the bathroom light. After I spend 20 minutes trying to figer out how to turn on the light I called the front desk and they told me what to do. They did not tell me where and when I could use the restaurants. The arrival shoul be better than that. They need to hire a good cook. Everything you put in your plate you have to trow it away because it is uneatable. The employees are all very friendly except for the front desk people.

Shy the world traveler Sep 30, 2009
From the moment the hotel staff picked us up from the airport we received VIP treatment the whole week! For an all exclusive ... vacation that is actually affordable it does not get any better than this. We added on a few extra dollars a night and got the crown club room! We had an amazing view of the ocean every morning and a jacuzzi right next to our king size bed! There was a free buffet that has 3 meals a day, which we only used for breakfast and ate one of the 4 restaurants for dinner. The steak house was gross!!! Probably the worst steak I have ever ate in my life but the seafood and Mexican restaurant was to die for! The beds are hard as a rock, and it was not what i was use to, but somehow i got the best nights sleep in years. No back aches and it keeps you from sleeping in all day so you can enjoy the resort. I would highly recommend this hotel. Make sure you go in the off-season.

Take a bus to go to the markets and the clubs. Its only 8 pesos versus playing around 100-120 pesos for a cab ride the bus is very fast and easy to use. Also do your shopping DOWNTOWN away from the hotel zone, go around 28th and market. Remember haggle your butt off with them! If they say 500 pesos tell them 150-200, They will throw a fit and say no, but as soon as you take about 5 steps a way they will chase you down and barter an extra 20 pesos that you asked for. WE DID THIS EVERY TIME! what ever they asked for we took about 75% off! Its the OFF SEASON! Cancun is dead!

"Great relaxation for Honeymooners"
Minnesota Honeymooners Sep 11, 2009
We didn't do much but relax on our honeymoon. I don't know why this place had a low rating. The rooms were excellent, the ... staff was very helpful and friendly, and our experience was awesome. They definitely have the best part of the beach on the strip that they are on. We took a walk to both directions away from our hotel and one side was very rocky and the other was very bumpy. The food was good, not the best ever, but still good. We stayed in the Crown Club Room - I would recommend it for only $20 more each night. Great advantages. After the 4th day the resort got a little boring, as we never did any off-resort excursions but it was still fine for a good relaxing time. We didn't spend any time at the pool, just in the ocean which was not crowded at all. There are also tons of opportunities to do off-site excursions and I would recommend them if you are going to be staying for a week or more. Overall: Great service, Get the Crown Club Room, Play in the Ocean, Don't go on the Cancun Queen Lunch Cruise (Booze Cruise). I totally recommend the resort.

Don't go to the Coral Negro market. It is the nearest market but is not anything authentic. The store owners just hassled us all the way through. We got out as quick as we could. Take the time and find where a smaller more authentic market would be, then buy from people who could use the business.

Beware: Extra Fees & Rude Staff
Like2Travel Sep 8, 2009
We booked a vacation package on Orbitz for Cancun's Crown Paradise Club. Upon arrival, we were told we had to pay $80/day ... more for our 15 year old son ($640 total) to stay at the hotel. Admittedly, there was confusion and discrepancies in the wording of the Orbitz deal regarding kids and number of kids in a room. Prior to booking, I modified my search from 2 adults and 2 kids (11 and 15) to 3 adults and 1 child (age 11) and came up with the same price. I also did a search with 2 adults, 2 kids in 2 rooms and got a price $100 more than we were paying. So, I assumed the pricing was correct. I tried to explain all this to the hotel clerk at check in and he didn't seem to care. He didn't want to see the Orbitz documentation, repeatedly saying we had to pay or couldn't have the room. I asked him to contact Orbitz and was refused. Upon discovering our cell phones weren't working, I asked to use a phone to call Orbitz and was refused. I asked if we could pay for one night and then contact Orbitz to clear up the issue and was told we could only have the room if we paid the additional money for all eight nights of our stay. I mentioned leaving and was told we would be classified as a no-show and charged for the room as planned. With each question I asked, the clerk went to his manager and then came back with the same answer - pay the additional money or no room. Talk about feeling stuck - we were in a foreign country without access to a phone, had 2 hungry boys, and it was getting late. With little options, we paid the additional funds and contacted Orbitz from our room. The customer service people at Orbitz were very helpful. They admitted there was an issue with their programming resulting in errors. They worked with the hotel management to get a refund and helped relocate us to another hotel. (We were given the option of remaining in the hotel with some additional fees but didn't want to give the hotel our business.) While checking out, I spoke with the hotel manager. He said they run into problems like ours frequently and have developed a policy to deal with it. He said they adhere to their policies strictly and acknowledged they don't allow check-in staff or potential customers to make phone calls. While I understand the fault lies with Orbitz, I fail to understand the attitude of the hotel staff and their policies. Without question, their policies and attitude impacted how we felt about the situation. It would have been very easy for them to nicely explain the frequent booking problems and suggest we contact Orbitz immediately or after our trip. With a small amount of courtesy, they could have let Orbitz own their mistake, maintained us as customers, and remained a neutral party. Bottom line, it didn't seem like it mattered to them what we thought - they were getting our money and didn't care how it impacted us. While our exposure was limited, the hotel seemed fair. It is a multi-story building with rooms opening to an excessively noisy lobby. The food was ok and other staff members seemed friendly. The rooms were clean, nothing special but certainly comfortable enough. Could you go to Crown Paradise and have a good vacation? Probably. However, before you book your stay there, you might want to ask yourself if you can absolutely guarantee they won't find a reason to charge you more and that they will be courteous, communicate and provide good customer service. Personally, I prefer giving my business to those who care how their customers are treated.

this was my first caribean vacation and it was amazing. The hotel was pretty quite since it was off season. The restaurants ... were very good especially the mexican, french, and sushi bar. We received great service from all the bartenders who constantly refilled our drinks before we even finished the last one. On our last night we watched 2 sea turtle come out of the gulf and lay their eggs on the hotel's beach. Most people stayed in the pool leaving the beach empty. The adult only pool is very nice as well with a swim up bar. The hotel offers many activities... nightly live shows in the theater, round trip transport to aqua world where you can use kayaks, paddleboats, wind surfs for free. On Wednesday's you can have dinner and drinks at senior frogs for FREE, they take you there but you need to find transport back to the hotel which on the Cancun Line bus costs around $1 USD. Although this resort is all inclusive I would recommend taking money to tip everyone who serves you, they do an amazing job of making you feel very important. My boyfriend and I plan on returning to this resort in the future.

Do a 90 minute sit down for a time share, even if you are not interested. You can have tickets to at least two free activities...even if you choose not to purchase...We never pay for any activities. We always get them free for this reason and never purchased one....the agents are at the airports when u arrive and at the mall la isla. :)

Wanna save money? Stay somewhere else, so you won't be leaving all the time to find something better to do with your time.

Sorry, we cannot perform that search at this time. Either the pick-up or drop-off location needs to be an airport.
