This hotel was adjacent to another, nicer one. They are owned by the same people and you check in to the same desk but it is ... like you are a second class citizen at the University Inn. The other guests have a free continental breakfast and wireless internet access while the University Inn guests do not.

I only needed a rm. to sleep in with a TV to fall asleep to. The room was clean, but the hallway was not vacuumed and ... mildewy - but, hey, I didn't sleep in the hallway. The location was close to where I needed to be as well as reasonably priced for what I was getting. There is no sign on the hotel and is currently being run by The Comfort Inn.

Simple Travelers Sep 7, 2009
I found the hotel very simple. The room was a nice size, clean and the beds were reasonably comfortable. But in my opinion ... the basics were missing, hair dryer and iron! We called front desk for them, but they told us, they were out. We had gone down for a wedding, so we needed them in the morning, so we had no choice but to go and buy one of each. I would have also appreciated knowing that this hotel has no check in counter. We arrived there confused, trying to find the front desk, so we went and ask at the Comfort Inn next door if they could help us. To our surprise, that is where you check in! The welcoming was cold. It is like they run the University Inn and Suits as an outcast child. We then also inquired about the free breakfast, They replied that breakfast was only offered to the guests of the Comfort Inn. We were surprised at the response, since the website stated that free breakfast was one of the Amenities. Apparently, NOT. The reason we choice the University Inn and Suites was because of the indoor swimming pool. The children did enjoy it. The water was at a good temperature and the hot tub was fun too. To conclude, we were not expecting a 5 star hotel, just some basic courtesy at check in, clean room with basic amenities and no false expectations from the Website (Free Breakfast).

University Inn & Suites OR Comfort Inn &
Sylvie Aug 28, 2009
We were in the oldest building which needs a little renovating and the room and sheets smelled like cigarette smoke. The ... room was clean and the rates were cheap. It's a little noisy being located close to a highway and busy intersection. When we first got there we were looking for "University" Inn and Suites but it's actually a "Comfort" Inn and Suites. That was a little confusing at first.

I was very dissapointed with these arrangements. The location was great for us, and the airport shuttle was the only reason ... we actually stayed the night. The pool and hot tub were dingy, which I reported to hotel staff, (who for the most part were very pleasant), but totally unconcerned. We actaully had to ask for our roomed to be sprayed with a freshener because of the very "dank" smell. The hallyways were poorly lit and very unkept. I was an airport traveller, so I was there with no car to drive myself and my child elsewhere, otherwise I would have left directly! Very dissapointing stay in a city that I love. The University Inn, has no signage, you have to check in at the Comfort Inn, its like they are embarressed to take ownership of thier adjacent property, and maybe they should be.

We found the location (address) for University Inn & Suites but no signage for the hotel. Drove around the complex and ... finally saw the lobby entrance for Comfort Inn. Learned that Comfort Inn manages University Inn. Check-in staff very accommodating and friendly. Excellent continental breakfast for guests. On-site shuttle to the Vermont City Marathon. Room was clean, quiet and spacious.

The room was not clean, the toilet would not flush (I personally repaired, the sheets did not even cover the old mattress. ... My wife was afraid to sleep in the bed without being totally clothed, including socks. The halls were dirty and in ill repair. There was a maintenance closet next to our room that was left open all night. I tried to discuss this with the manager the next morning and he basically ignored me. This will be the last time we stay there!

Very unsatisfactory hotel
Krista Oct 6, 2008
There were no reading lamps next to the bed. The coffee pot was set up with only cold plastic cups not even styrofoam cups ... and there was no hair dryer in the bathroom. We had to request one and then the front desk told us they might not have any. The sheets kept slipping off the mattress because they really did not fit. Towels were thin and rough. I would not stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone. The location of the hotel was nice and close to the University and air port -- that was the only good thing. Hotel staff was not very friendly either.

Rich Oct 4, 2008
the room was quite basic, it lacked the typical coffee pot. I noticed the room was quite warm, so I attempted to turn on the ... blower, which only added to the heat, bringing the temperature up to 85 degrees although the thermostat was on 65 degrees. The walls were not sound proofed at all. Our neighbors had a talk show on from around 11 pm till around 4 AM. we were unable to offset the volume by turning on the blower since the room was very hot. We were not satisfied

The pluses: The University Inn and Suites is a comfortable nicely designed hotel. The manager was very prompt in checking me ... in at midnight, as my flight got in quite late. There is a beautiful pool with gorgeous landscaping around it. I imagine it is a lovely place to swim in the summer. I stayed there in the fall. After checking in, I had to walk from the lobby, across the courtyard, by the pool, and into another doorway to get to my room. The minuses: 1. I'm not sure I would have liked to walk across an open courtyard by the pool in the winter. 2. There appeared to be some renovation going on. 3. The free breakfast buffet was typical with lots of sugar-y white cereals, bagels, & muffins, and a waffle maker. I would have had hard boiled eggs but they were already peeled and I prefer to peel them myself so that the eggs hadn't been touched by anyone. I had arrived the night before at midnight and got to the buffet at 9:30 am--it was just closing. The staff was adamantly putting away the food, while hungry guests were chasing down the rolling carts to get cream cheese, etc. 4. The eating area was quite crowded even at 9:30 am. A suggestion would be to extend the breakfast buffet to longer hours and try to set up more tables.
